Offut Lake bad ramp Alert!
The locals know about the bad ramp at Offut Lake but newcomers are probably unpleasantly surprised. The material under the ramp has sloughed and caused a large 3-5 foot gap between the concrete strips. When backing in the water the boat trailer tires drop off dramatically and can cause damage to the trailer or tires if you go to fast. The key is to go inch backwards extremely slow and allow the tires to drop off the edge. Then continue backing slowly until the tires go back up on the ramp. Of course the reverse is necessary to pull the boat out of the water safely. I have contacted the WDF several times in the past but the damaged ramp is either not a concern or not a priority to repair. It seems our state is more concerned with spending $11,000 to refinish the Govenors desk.

RE:Offut Lake bad ramp Alert!
Someone take a pic of this and post it up. Might help others before they go.
To bad. I have noticed a lot of launches that are going to crap. Unmantained and a lot of trash around. And low and behold they all happen to be county or state launches. You know budget cuts, no money, not enough people, yack yack yack. So where do our tax dollars go?
It will probably take someones boat tipping off the tailer or major damage before it will get fixed.

Is this the launch? I can see what your talking about. Couldn't a guy go in there and dump a bunch of gravel in between those?

Yes he could if he had a small load of gravel, just don't tell the 'shoreline protection agency' as they won't let the city of Black Diamond fix the Lake Sawyer boat launch as they say 'no rocks in the lake', even tho the launch is rocks with cement slabs on top.
'shoreline protection agency' or some name like that, the proper name isn't coming to mind.
