I guess everyones experience is different. Been shopping OE for years and have nothing but praise for them on the other hand you couldn't get me to walk through the doors at Sportco again. They stiffed me on specials bought at the Sportsmans Show and them refused to make good on what they owed me. I went into OE and spoke to the manager there and he made good on the whole deal. Fife is out for me.Maury wrote:ckim,
check out Sportco in Fife. They are affiliated w/ OE but friendly staff and it's closer than Cabela's.
I live between the two stores and I personally prefer Sportco for selection and service.

How about a portable depth finder:ckim85 wrote:Took out the pontoon to Bitter Lake and fished with fishndude, quadfather, and gringo. Had a blast. the water was absolutely perfect and it was a ton of fun.
I need to get an anchor of some sort...sucks when the light breeze blows you down the lake. Pair of flippers might be very good too to maneuver the pontoon.
I'm already starting to think about different add-ons...anybody have any suggestions for a website I can check out that might have some pontoon-specific add-ons?
Amazon depth finder
Always nice to know how deep it is under you. I have one and it does the job. Not too concerned with the fish finder, just the depth. $50 seemed to be a reasonable price.
What I like is the transducer is mounted on a float and it just floats in the water as you move along. very nice portable feature!

Thats a nice tool to have. Thanks for sharing Mike. I often wonder how deep the water is below me when I am on a float tube. I try to look at the bathymetric maps and compare them to google maps to locate holes and drop offs. This depthfinder is going on to my wish list.

Thanks Mike. I am looking for a fish finder but thought a portable one might be good to have. I would most likely use it more for depth but how is the fish finder function of it. pretty accurate?Mike Carey wrote: How about a portable depth finder:

me and Quadfather went out to Kellogg Lake out in Snohomish County and had a blast. The lake is absolutely gorgeous with tons of great wildlife and looked below my pontoon to find dozens and dozens of bluegill, small bass and all kinds of small fish swimming right under me. A giant 4" tadpole swam right up to me...that was fun. Oh a giant bright orange quarter sized spider was hanging out on a lilypad in the middle of the lake as well...have no idea how it got there but it attached itself onto my pontoon and wouldn't get off!
Anyway, i'm excited to add some cool accessories onto my pontoon!

the unit's LCD is B/W and only a couple inches square, so actual "fish finding" isn't that great. I'd say it's primary role is to let you know the depth which I find helpful when targeting fish along drop offs to know where they are (the drop offs, that is).

I bought a 12-volt battery for my toon but, failed to pay close attention to the AH "amps"! Anyhow, I'll just return it to Cabelas and get store credit.
I bought a 8.0 AH battery and that has no were near the juice I need..dies in like 1 hr or heck minutes
My question is: What are some of the top choices for a "deep cycle marine" battery. I have a minn kota 30lb thrust trolling motor..
I believe my motor said it reccomend at least 105 or 130 Amps or something along those lines. But, man these batterys are not cheap..
Thanks
