difficulty steering a minkota bow mount electric motor

Post by KenPCPilot » Sat Jun 26, 2010 5:36 am

I have a Minnkota bow mount with a cableless electronic pedal control Micro Touch like. I am unable to easily steer as when I step on the controller it swings about an 8th a revolution. This causes the bow to swing back and forth and is a constant battle to go straight. Is the controller worn out? Is the servo or motor that turns the motors tower bad? I want to troll and bass fish with this boat but I doubt it will be very enjoyable constantly fighting the poor steering.

I had exactly the same issues with my older Minn Kota bow mount. Turns out it was a faulty gyro.
I took it to a Minn Kota authorized repair shop and they fixed it good as new. If I remember right it cost less than $100.00

Here's the guys I took mine too:
