Moses Lake

I know I could probably find out a bunch of the same information with an hour's research, but I'm too lazy to do that. So, this weekend I am heading to Moses Lake/Potholes area for a couple days, and I have no clue what I'm doing. Anyone have any tips, tricks, advice for the trip?

I am bringing my 14' aluminum boat and will be targeting either SMB or LMB. Also, I'll figure out directions and launch areas on my own, unless someone wants to recommend one that has good action near it. Thanks!

For starters, I'd get a topo map of the lake made by Fish-n-Maps. I think you get Moses Lake, Potholes w/seeps and Lake Sammamish all together! The area your looking to hit is so big you'll want to pick a few places and stick to them, especially if it is your first time out there. The dam on the South end of the lake is always popular for bass early morning and late evening as is Goose Island and it's siblings. I also like Lind Coulee, especially if the wind picks up and makes a mess of the open water. I'd say the South end is where you'll will mostly hook into SMB. For LMB your better off heading for the North end and the dunes. You can also hit up many of the seep lakes below the dam, they also contain bass, walleye, panfish and trout. I haven't targeted bass in the lake for a while now, but they are a by-catch when fishing for walleye and crappie. I've picked up a few trolling along the shoreline just North of the State Park. If you do hit the dunes bring a GPS if you have one, you'd be surprised how quickly you can lose your bearings if you don't pay attention to your surroundings. I'm sure you will get ton more information, so take it all in, devise a plan and map it out. When the bite is on is this system it's a fantastic fishery.

There are a several launches around the system, some free, some for a nominal fee. If your boat isn't too big you can use any one of them. This site has a good link showing launches around the State if you haven't already found it, it's under Home/Links/Boat Ramps.

Good Luck!

I like potholes reservoir but have never been to moses or the seep lakes. I like the launch at the east end of the damn (link below). This is a good launch for small boats as it puts you in a great area to explore multiple areas of interest with little navigation. From this launch I prefer to fish along the damn as far as birdshi--, goose island, also the cove at the launch is a great place for small mouth. You can also venture up the lind coulee, stay on the south side on the lake until you reach the lind coulee launch. From that point on either side is good bass territory!

Goose Island - stay between the island and the dam, watch out for rocks and trees this is a shallow area:
