The current reg is good through April 30. The new reg, when published, will be effective May 1.

Can`t remember exactly when but they should be out anyday I would think. Correct me if I`m wrong but opening for trout is the last weekend in April. If I remember they come out before that. Also fishing license expired the end of March so new rules and all every year I would think any day.

Only for lakes/ponds that list the last Saturday in April. The unlisted lakes and many listed lakes in the reg are actually open year round.
LAKES, PONDS, AND
reservoirs are open to fishing for
game fish (except DOLLY VARDEN/BULL
TROUTand GRASS CARP) year-round.

It would be nice if the regs ran the same as the licenses. Right now they are one month behind, shouldn't be too hard to sync them up.

They want to sell new licenses before you see the newer, more restrictive regs, get PO'd and decide not to get one that year! :-$

They said they can't do that due to 'schedualing'. Whatever that really means. All they have to do is THINK, and PLAN. And they also said something like, 'conflics with the publishing people's schedualing of other publications'.

No wonder I work in the private sector! They don't have to publish earlier, just switch the licenses to run from May 1st to April 30th.
