Re: baker lake
North end. Follow the fleet. You will see everyone fishing just up past the dog leg.
Re: baker lake
My question is there an area for overnight parking if you want to stay the night on the boat? I went up this summer and they were working on the new launch but did not see a ton of parking? Thanks, Eric

Re: baker lake
there is limited parking at the launch sites, you can park up on the main road as many do although then there is the creeps who will want into your vehicle
Re: baker lake
With the crowds... what launch will be most convenient?
Re: baker lake
I go the night before and camp out and launch my boat. The last time I saw they are all a mess in the early mornings....Lingking wrote:With the crowds... what launch will be most convenient?
Re: baker lake
Were going to camp at one of the local campgrounds makes it easy I hope....lol. Staying during the week hope to miss the weekend crowed. Looks like a good amount of fish have been taken to the lake already. Can't wait first year for us.

Re: baker lake
Just camped up at Swift Creek over the fourth. Launch was in great shape and the docks looked good too. My advice, head up the day before, get camp set up and the boat in the water from there. Tie up to the docks. Go drink beer, wake up and go fish.
The launch fee is $9, but camping is only $17, which includes launch and dock space. Hard to beat it.
Just bring your mosquito nets. Despite no moisture around, they were super thick. Had some biting flies and also a breakout of little gnats one evening as well.

Re: baker lake
Holy crap, thanks for the update on the mosquitos I will be sure to bring some spray with us. Same spot were staying also. Glad to hear the lake level is up and all is well. Did you fish at all?

Re: baker lake
I threw a spinner a few times. I wouldn't call it fishing though.
Spray was useless, even the 40% Deet stuff. A stiff breeze should be helpful though...

Re: baker lake
Sunday morning at 5 am is the planned start time of this adventure...lol. It should take us about 3 hrs. can't check it till 4 pm so we plan to launch and fish then head over to the dock and go check in and set up in our tent and camp and get the lay of the land and where I can park my truck and boat trailer.
Thanks for the luck strider43 I am going to need some as this is our first time. Should be a fun trip!

Re: baker lake
Is an inflatable able to fish the lake. I have an inflatable which i eqquiped with motor mount, rod holders and one downrriger. The problem is i only have one battery and a small trolling motor. I fished stevens and cavanaugh which have some size to them but nothing like baker. Was thinking of rowing out until i get to a spot i wanna fish then turn on the motor. Am planning on being there before the massive rush of trailers so as to not be in the way of bigger boats trying to launch.
Re: baker lake
I have never fished this lake before but you can look on youtube Mike has made a few videos of fishing on the lake and a few other have as well. I don't think you would have an issue provided its not a super windy day. Take precautions and use your PFD and stay safe. Good luck and hope you do well.

I took my inflatable pontoon up there last year and rowed around (trolling) it worked OK. The hard part was rowing back to the campsite when the evening wind picked up, it took all I had to get back and I stripped out the plastic insert on the oar locks (luckily there are two others).
There was another guy that knew what he was doing with his inflatable raft (with motor) and he was successful.
I have added a trolling motor this year so that should help with consistent trolling speed and returning to the launch. You will want to launch closer to where you will fish, most people go to the north end. If you have done fine at Lake Stevens you should be good to go here.
I will be camping at Shannon Creek next weekend.
Re: baker lake
it can be a great place to camp out, I don't do the campgrounds to often anymore. I camp along the lake past the campgrounds and launch and have my boat right there at camp. Have FUN!Hunter757 wrote:Sunday morning at 5 am is the planned start time of this adventure...lol. Re: baker lake
I'm going to take my kayak out there later this month. Has anyone ever done any fishing from a kayak on baker?
Re: baker lake
Fished today, report should be up soon. Slow and monsoon.
Re: baker lake
Can't wait to read your report Nate. See you tomorrow some time. Are there a ton of people out? Is the rain that bad....??
