I am headed to Sun lakes this year for the weekend, hoping the wind doesn't blow me away.

I will be at the resort on Blue Lake at the north end. Hopefully we can find some holdovers but it is pretty much a family get together more than a fishing excursion. And I agree on the wind issue, blew something fierce last year.

that sound a lot like my opening weekend trip, more ritual, friends and family then hammering the fishing. Good luck out there, if the wind is bad Deep lake has a couple pretty good spots you can walk into to find some good wind protection.

Deep Lake was great Kokanee fishing last September, was my first time in Sun Lakes and had a blast.

This will be my first opener in 15 years. It always lands on my daughter's birthday. But now that she is a teenager she doesn't want dad cramping her style. So do i sit in a corner listening to cats in the cradle? Hell no! Im going fishing! Probably storm lake

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Avoiding it like the plaque.
It is so funny when all the people get out for opening weekend on a lake that has been open all year.
Opening weekend is the worst weekend to be out.
Good luck all.

Isn't that the Annual Festival were people who put their boats up last year plug up the launches while they try to get the boat started. [thumbsup]

yeah opening weekend definitely brings out some boat launch entertainment, that's one of the reasons i drive to the eastern side, it will get slammed but nothing like trying to launch you boat at lake Ki or Martha lake.

the best part of opening day, seeing people flood to lakes that are open year round =D>

Tiny little trout, no thank you. But sittin at the launch with the old lawn chair n a 12pk of barley pops is well worth the entertainment!

Last year on opening day and the day after, Deep was very nice, despite the wind at about 25mph. C&R'ed quite a few on the fly as Dry Falls was about dead. I hope I scared enough of them in to hiding for good hold over action.
