Looking for a little advice...

Hey everybody!

First post here on the forums So I'll tell you a little about myself. My name is Greg, I'm 22 and have lived in Lynnwood. all my life. I've grown up fishing both locally and in Ketchikan AK. where all me extended family lives. My interests include fishing, crayfishing, hiking, shooting, hunting and keeping tropical fish, reptiles and invertebrates. I cant believe that in all my years fishing I just now stumbled across this forum. Better late than never! I've caught quite the carp bug recently after catching 3 of them at Blackman lake in Snohomish several weeks ago (all catch and release of course). I couldn't believe what incredible fighters they were and have a new found interest in their pursuit. So I ended up ordering a not very small sum of carp gear from K-1 Baits out of Chicago. Got all the boilies, wafters, pack bait/method mix, you name it. Not to mention all the gear that goes along with it. So a good friend of mine and I were thinking about a little fishing/camping trip somewhere over on the east side to break in my new gear and rescue my sanity. The main focus will be carp fishing but I wouldn't mind putting a few decent channel cats, bass and trout on the bank. We were thinking about possibly either sun lakes over by Coulee, or potholes reservoir in Grant county. If anybody has any reason why one would be better than the other or if you have a different lake/area you would recommend that's teeming with carp, I'm all ears!

There are carp at the north end of Lake Sammamish. The WDFW says it would be a great idea if people would shoot them with arrows and get rid of most or all of them.

Hmm, well that's not too far away from my place. I might just have to check that out (minus the shooting them part). Do you know of any lakes in eastern Wa. that have good carp?

Reminds me that there is one guy who does a lot of carp fishing, I have no idea who. There was another carp fishing report a week or something ago. I also don't remember if you can select fishing reports just on carp.

Reminds me that there is one guy who does a lot of carp fishing, I have no idea who. There was another carp fishing report a week or something ago. I also don't remember if you can select fishing reports just on carp.

Could be worth a try. It's right next to sun lakes which was one of the areas I was considering. Have you caught many out of Banks?

I've personally never been over there for Carp, but some guys I know bow fish them over there.

Any idea if there's decent sized cats in any of those lakes?

Yamima river has huge carp and they are readily catchable on worms or carp/catfish type dough baits from Yamina until the confluence with the Columbia river in Richland. Moses Lake has monster carp as well that are catchable from the huge RV park or state park tight across the bridge. Yakima river has decent cats all through the same area. Never fished for them in Moses Lake. The Wallula impoundment of the Coulumbia river from Wallula to Richland also holds large examples of both species.

Ive gotten a couple monster carp from Banks, and you can see schools of them swimming around while driving down the hwy along banks lake.

What part of the lake did you catch them on? Also do you need a boat to access the area (all I have is a crappy inflatable raft)? Also what bait? Sorry for the bombardment of questions!
