Northwest Fishing Reports

Me and a friend are heading to Porcupine Bay tomorrow morning to target some walleye. I have a great map that shows a few good spots to try but this is my first time out for walleye and am not sure what to use. Lindy rigging a worm, or a worm or plastic leach on a jig or walley harness is what I have in mind so far. Also I am not sure at what depth to put my presentation at, or do I just drag the bottom? No matter how we do though its gonna be a great out:cheers:

I cant give you any help for where you are going because I have never fished there but I would drag the bottom with different worm harnesses. The double whammy type (2 hooks) with a full night crawler. I like orange the best followed by chartrues trolled at about 1 mph. My favorite jigs are 1/4 oz dark colored marabous or, as weird as it might sound a 5" black plastic worm on a 1/4 oz jig head, both tipped with a piece of crawler. The crawler on the jig is more for scent, not presentation so just a piece will do. Blade baits and swim baits are also great jigs, but I have never done a whole lot with them. Shad Raps and Hot Lips should also be brought along. But this time of year there isnt a lot of bait fish in the water. I usually save the plugs for July - October, after the fry have time to grow to "plug size".

On the 20th I went to Porcupine Bay and I used a Blood colored Red wedding ring that I made. I trolled with a speed of 0.3 mph. You have to feel your bottom walker snagging at the bottom. I found that the bigger and fresher the worm the better. Fifty feet deep is where they are during the day but they go up to twenty feet in the evening. They are always on the bottom. I hooked some nice ones but still they are smaller than the ones in the Columbia.
