I used to fish the Montlake Canal alot in the 70's and 80's for perch. We used to kill them down there.Bigguns too. Sometimes with our double setups wed get a Hat Trick and score 2 at once.I went down Sunday and didnt get a bite.I'm not sure if its just late this year or what. I didnt even get a Small mouth.I did notice whole floating islands of millfoil. The millfoil seems to just get thicker and heavier every year.Has anyone else fishing perch in Lake Wa. found that their fav holes just arent producing?

Hey Rac...maybe it's just that EVERYTHING in our youth seemed so darn perfect, the older we get!! LOL

I think it has more to do with temperature/pressure changes than anything else (maybe vegetation growth). When the weather has been constant for awhile, it doesn't seem to matter where I go; perch bite. But when the pressure changes drastically, even my best holes (where I'm marking fish) seem vacant.

I do remember it being better in late august and sept. I thought with this constant warming every year that the bite would come sooner.Perhaps the colder winter makes it a later bite.I wont give up just give it time.

Yea, Aug/Sept is when the Perch bite will heat up. Even @ one of the docks I usually get perch at have not moved in yet. The big ones have not come up quite yet.
I have never fished for the perch in the canal, only around docks/edge of weed lines, etc
The weather over last couple of years has fishing out of wack in my opinion..global warming, I dont know, but something is fishy

Hey Rac,
Sorry about the perch. As mentioned above, I usually do best in late Aug to Sept and even into early October some years. Many of the perch I catch from shore at this time tend to be the smaller guys.
Why don't you tell me your catfish hotspot on Lake WA, or better yet take me there. I'll bring lunch.
