Idk the area of which you speak, but everywhere that I have been... If I cast out a worm and let it sink to the bottom w/ weight or w/o I usually get bites from perch instantaniously. Idk if it because of the area im in, or if perch love worms just that much. but from my experience from catching perch, I would deeply recommend using a worm. No matter what the set up, if theres a perch there, it will take the bait. good luck and tight lines!

Viet, this is the time of year to find the schools off of Kirkland. I'm headed out tomorrow and will be a little further down and will launch by Mercer Marine and fish under the I-90 bridge in 30-40 feet of water. If tomorrow is like today there won't be much wind (hopefully).

One would do similar up by Kirkland. Cruise around until you see a dense tree shape on the fishfinder. That should be a perch school. I've caught them off the southern end of Juanita Bay but have done better down off that Mercer Island waterfront park.

Here's the report from this morning's perch trip.

Went out this morning to fish perch around the I-90 East Channel bridge. Looked on the west side from below the bridge to above the Mercer Island swimming area. Couldn't find a school of perch. Switched over to the east side and found them on the south end of Meydenbauer Bay. The school started with the standard christmas tree shape and then switched to covering the bottom 5 feet of the bottom. I threw a swedish pimple down with a power bait grub on a dropshot hook. For a while it was tap, tap, tap as the perch were all over it. Then the wind pushed us off the school and it was hard to find them again.

I'm not sure how many we ended up with but it was a fair number. We weren't on them thick so had to switch to worms and perch chunks. I think we went home with somewhere between 20-30 but it wasn't fast. It was either too much wind or too little anchor rope.

Perch were in 30 feet of water and when we could find the main school the fishfinder was just black.

Waverly is a great place. that 10 foot boat can work. you can make an ancher out of cement with an a milk carton. Mark the rope every 10 feet so you can tell how deep the water is. Move around and try a few spots till you find fish and start catching them...north of magnuson is good too
