what baits do you use for rainbow trout when ice fishing? OTHER THAN SHINERS

here in eastern washington, we had good luck last winter using corn and/or salmon eggs on a small snelled hook. we'd put a couple of split shot on to take the bait down to the bottom and then give the reel a few cranks to suspend just off the bottom.

some guys were using small glow-in-the dark lead-headed rubber grubs.

WORMS, EXCEPT AT FOURTH OF JULY. I USE EGGS THERE (PAUTZKES). THE JIGS DO WORK FOR ME AT SOME OF THE SEEP LAKES OVER BY OTHELLO, OVER ICE.

I do well with worms, Power Maggots, small jigging spoons and various hand tied mini jigs at Fish Lake by Wenatchee. All seems to work well for both trout and perch, but you can't beat a worm on a small jig head for the perch.
