Northwest Fishing Reports

Just thought I might get an answer here so here goes....I've tried all around the town, (Puyallup and Tacoma) and I can't find anywhere or anyone who knows where to get "feed eggs" in the quart jar. I can't rember who used to make them but when I go to the lake I can "chum" in I'd like to take a jar along. Can someone give me a place to purchase? Thanks & Tight Lines to All

Some lakes it is actually legal to chum in. Mostly lakes that are inhabited by kokanee.

By feed eggs are talkin about cured salmon eggs?

We use old freezer burnt steelheading eggs. Accept we would then cut them up realy small.

They were produced I believe by "Mikes" or an older company which I can't remember the name of' They were sold in 1/2 quart jars and packed in a light oil. I haven't seen any in probably 15 years or so. I wrote to "Mikes" and they haven't replied to me yet.

Last place i saw the jars of chumming eggs was at Wal Mart. Might try GI Joes too. The brand name I remember was "Mikes". Good luck.

Actually, chumming is legal in American Lake, Pierce County. Try the area known as "Small American" lake, at the south end of the lake. Careful with your speed, only 5mph and No Wake. Have used compacted cornmeal.eggs and smelly jelly. Start chumming about 30 minutes prior to fishing.

Jerry's Surplus in Everett carries them. Call first, to make sure they have some in stock.
I bought some last year, and I believe I saw them there this year.

Now that I see where you live, I suggest Joes. I think Ive seen them there to. Good luck.

Very easy to make your own feed eggs, if you do a lot of salmon fishing. Just use loose eggs or old (or new) skeins. Cut them up or mix throroughly. I add cooked soft rice to the mix and it works pretty well. I once caught a fish that was stuffed with my rice/egg mix. Some people add cottage cheese instead.

I just saw 16oz jars of feed eggs at Sportco in Fife, I was just actually wondering what they would be used for, seems like waaaaay too many eggs to use for single egg hook fishing. I was thinking maybe they were for tying your own egg sacks. Now chumming sounds like a much easier purpose.
