I might add that you should read several of the fishing reports on the site. You can gain a lot of information as to date, time of day, weather and location on the lake. Like Sam mentioned, I think that water temperature is key to finding fish. Trout have a limited comfort range. I was fishing this weekend and noticed that many of the fish were lying in about 15 ft. of water. The surface temperature was 60 degrees. I put a thermometer down to 15 ft and the water was 54 degrees. Trout will seek out what temperature is comfortable to them, much the same way when we get hot outdoors, we head to the shade.
