Black Lake (Thurston Co.) stocked!
Anglers,
Black Lake in Thurston Co. was stocked with 3,500 1lb rainbow this week (Oct 29-30th). This is the second year in a row for this early winter fishing opportunity. Last year angler participation and harvest were good but the program is expensive. I’m planning to visit the ramp as much as possible over the next few weeks checking anglers but please take the time to let me know what you think about the program. Future winter trout plants in South Sound will depend on angler interest and participation.

Question for those that fished at Black Lake @ the shore. Where do you fish? I went to check it out today. I found the boat launch area. But there is nothing but watergrass in the water. Big big clumps with retrieves. I checked out the Kennydell Park right down the road from the boat launch. And it has a big sign saying "No Fishing".
There is a small dock there though.
I saw this pic on the lake reports here. How do you get to this dock? And is public access allowed there?
I tried searching for St Vincent Campground on mapquest, but not getting any hits.

Anglers have good success right off the public boat ramp using power bait. I have been told that early and late are the best.
I visited the ramp on Sat. and saw only two anglers who had been fishing for about an hour with no luck.
I'm suprised this stocking has not resulted in more effort.

I have plans to go there this weekend. I think the group I am going with is going to be pretty big. How many people do you think can be fished at one time?

As of 11:03 tonight there are no reports for November.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
