Getting ready for the up-coming season FireTiger,

Sorry to say I don't have anything to help you out, but I'm sure someone out there does. I’m looking forward to meeting you this summer on the water.

Take care

Hi Firetiger:
Now I just KNOW you are going to be lucky and win that St. Croix rod we are raffling off! Need anymore tickets? LOL.
We are having the Chapter meeting this Thursday in Federal Way. I will announce your request to the group and see what we can pull out of the collective closet, :cheese:
My rod closet is REALLY BLUE, (keepers) but I bet bad esox might have something tucked away.
(I'm in trouble now):-$
Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:

Hey Firetiger,

Kup is right.

Someone will win that absolutely gorgeous St. Croix, "Lipstick" rod...it could be you! The rod alone is worth $300.00!!! Raffle tickets are only $2.00 and this raffle includes a beautiful custom, hand-made, glide lure also. The lure was personally made, and donated, to the Chapter by our own V.P., Mr. Brett Olson. It is a "one-of-a-kind" lure. The drawing will be held at our April General Membership Meeting (you need not be present to win) and tickets can be purchased until the time of the drawing. A good time to purchase tickets will be at our "Awards Meeting" this Thursday evening at the Round Table Pizza at 6:30 P.M. in Federal Way...see our website for more information. You can also call our "Hotline": 253-850-5889 and I will return your call ASAP with more information.

Good Luck!

Thursday I hope to be fishing for LM at Lake Terrell near Bellingham, so I probably will not make the meeting.I don't think I need anymore tickets as Kup left me with the impression she had already sold me the winning ticket!!! Just in case I don't win the Croix, I purchased a Quantum Alliance rod from Cabelas (bargain sale),$42.64 rod, taxes, and shipping in a reusable cardboard tube. Such a deal!

I'll start practicing asap. If the rod doesn't cast well, I'll repaint it "carrot orange"

Thats to funny, Ellen gets hers this weekend. She was all over the carrots at Cabelas last Saturday. Not sure what she's going to pick, so many choices... Pretty sure she's going with an Abu Garcia similar to the ones you and I have or a bit smaller.

The boys both got new musky rod/reels this last Sunday. Rod/Reel/Line = $94 each before tax. Not bad for their first musky setups.

Lets have lunch again.

Would you mind posting the setups you got them? I'm gonna be digging pennies out of the couch to try and get a swimbait/musky rod before my trip to Curlew this July.

Yea, no problem. Carrot rods start at $149 and the Golds are $199.

The boys and I have much less expensive gear.

I picked up an Ugly Stik Big Water 6' and an Abu Garcia, plus line for $100 a few weeks ago.

FireTiger got a good deal out of Cabelas Bargain Cave on his, dont recall the make/modle.

I use the St Croix Primer Muskie series.

I know it's a little pricy ($170 +/-) but I really like the feel of these rods. As for the reel I went with Abu 6600 and love it. I like this combo so well that I have few outfits that are exactly the same, just in case....LOL

I'm still using good ol' 30lbs mono. I started out with braded but started having trouble with backlash so I went back to the mono. After I learned that most people that use braded go with a heavier line to increase the diameter of the line to prevent it from cutting into its self on the spool. One I get home this summer it will be time for now line anyway so I might give it a try then, maybe 50/60lbs.
I agree with Rich that Fire Tiger got a great deal on his outfit, goes to show that anyone can enjoy this regardless of how much they want to spend. Just shop around a little bit.

Nice setup DEX!

Mine is a St Croix Triumph with an Abu Garcia 6501C3.

The boys have the Abu Garcia 5601 BCX on their Ugly Sticks.

Put new Abu Garcia spinning reels on the bass rods too.

I recon MissElley will be getting an Abu too...

I like their stuff!

Yea, check the sales and shop.
