Garbage Clean-Up Around Lake Tapps
A BIG Thanks to everyone who came out last Sunday to help with the
Adopt-A-Road clean up on the road leading to Lake Tapps.
We had a GREAT time and who knew you could have so much fun while doing
something good for the environment!
There is something very satisfying about doing a good job for Mother Earth,
with no expectation of payment; it is just the right thing to do.
We had several cars honk in gratitude or stop by to say how much they
appreciated the work. We even had some business owners come out to greet us
and tell us they thought we were a “great bunch” for jumping in and
cleaning the road, including in front of their businesses. The stretch of road from
the intersection near Lake Tapps Marine & Ski, to dike 4 and back, is now
immaculate and the dike area was, as usual, a mess. Pierce County road
crews will be happy to pick up a stack of some 40-45 bags of garbage, that will
now stay out of the lake and the yards of property owners.
Our volunteers were treated to a donated lunch at the Rock Pizza after
a morning of toil.
Our Chapter members who helped should be very proud of a job WELL
DONE! I know the rest of the Chapter who could not come this time and the whole
community, appreciate all your hard work!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

RE:Garbage Clean-Up Around Lake Tapps
Hey Dex,
Good to hear from you! I hope all is going well with the effort. We are proud of you!
We are working hard while you are gone...well at least some of us are!...LOL...This was our second "Adopt -A-Road" endeavor out there near the entrance to Lake Tapps. We learned from the first time out there that someone should keep watch and be used as a "speed bump" to give the others a chance to jump out of the way from any clear and present danger! Actually...I did keep watch for our fellow members and when the garbage bags were full I would move them to a pile at a more central (safer) location making them easier to pick-up. I was also assigned the task of "official" road-sign mover!
It is simply amazing what one can find out there along the roadway! Pete, said he is using many of the car parts etc...that we are finding to assemble a new car...kind of like that old Johnny Cash song!!! As strange as it may sound we have been having a pretty good time along the roadside. Many people honk, wave, and say "thank-you" making our effort that much easier. Oh yeah, then we simply have a great bunch of members that make work seem fairly effortless. This is a "good cause" because many items if not thrown away properly would end up in Lake Tapps eventually as they decompose etc...
What's the old saying...Please let us, help you. Please do not litter and please dump larger unwanted items at their proper dumping locations. Lake Tapps is a fantastic recreational resource that we all use and share for a number of outdoor activities with our friends and families:)
Thanks,
