Stranded Rafter

As I neared the Camping Island yesterday with my dad to buck some wind and hook some muskies, we noticed a scantily clad individual waving his arm on shore. We waved back but he continued to wave. We turned around and motored up to him(had to leave the motor running to charge the battery)to see what he wanted. As it turned out, he'd gotten blown there the evening before in his 1 man rubber raft when that wind storm blew in. He said he couldn't row against it so he steered the raft to the only place he could. Of course it's the only island on the whole lake without a road or bridge. All he had on was shorts, t shirt and flipflops. He had a fire going. Must have had some matches or lighter. Either way, he was lucky to be able to build a fire. Would've been no fun without one, that's for sure. We deflated his raft and gave him a ride across the lake to Snag Island and he was going to walk home from there.
Always be prepared for the worst. As lousy as Sunday was, he might have had to spend another nite if some dumb fishermen didn't come along cuz ya don't see to many ski boats on those kind of days. LOL
