IFPAG Meeting, Part 4 -- Fishing Regulations Pamphlet

Post by Don Wittenberger » Tue Aug 04, 2009 6:37 pm

WDFW is considering a major change in how it designates in the pamphlet which stream areas are closed to fishing. Currently, stream areas not listed as closed in the pamphlet are open for fishing. The change reverses this procedure, so that all stream areas not listed as open in the pamphlet would be closed to fishing. WDFW staff told IPFAG meeting attendees this will result in some stream areas currently open for fishing becoming closed areas. WDFW intends to adopt this change effective May 1, 2010.

WDFW also is tinkering with how the pamphlet is organized. Currently, it's organized into 4 parts: Western Washington Lakes, Western Washington Rivers, Eastern Washington Lakes, and Eastern Washington Rivers, with waters listed alphabetically within each subdivision. WDFW is considering adding a north-and-south subdivision, similar to the current east-west subdivision, using I-90 as the dividing line.

This concludes my IFPAG reports.
