The following is a broadcast that was sent out by Michael Floyd on 8/29/08, requesting the help of the CHAPTER #57 Members to help with the funding of a new holding tank for the baby muskies at the Meseberg Hatchery in eastern Washington:
BROADCAST from Michael Floyd:
Dear Muskies, Inc. Chapter #57 Members:
My name is Michael Floyd and I am a member of your Chapter.
I volunteered to be the new Chairman of the newly formed Tank Purchase Committee.
Steve Jackson, Warmwater Program Manager for the WDFW has come to us with a plea: Our baby muskies being raised over in the Meseberg Hatchery in Eastern Washington are growing so fast, they are bigger and healthier than usual!
They are doing such a good job of raising them, the little muskies will be overcrowding their holding tanks and overcrowding is a serious issue.
(see attached picture).
WDFW is under a budget freeze right now so they can't purchase more tanks.
But we can! We need to reduce the overcrowding! They need 2 more fiberglass tanks and the estimated cost for one is between $900.00 and $1,000.00.
We voted on it, at both the Board and the Chapter level, and the vote passed to purchase one tank.
We are working with the manager at Meseberg to make sure we get the exact specifications on size and type of tank needed and their regular suppliers.
I will be presenting my fund- raising plan at the September Chapter meeting, but for you folks who can't make the distance to a meeting, I would like to ask for any donation you are able to make to support our little muskies. We want them to be healthy as possible when they are turned loose and we want them to have a fighting chance. Some of the guys at the August Chapter meeting already tossed in $20.00 each.
Hopefully, we'll get some corporate sponsor donations, too, if we can.
So if you want to send a donation (tax deductible) to help out our baby muskies, it will help make a big difference. 100% of your donation will go towards the tank.
We will keep everyone informed about reaching our goal!
And remember that "buying fish stock-rearing equipment" fits within the Mission of Muskies Inc.
We enjoy a great relationship with the WDFW and want to continue that partnership for the future success of the Tiger muskie Program here in Washington.
Sincerely,
Michael Floyd
Chairman

My wife and I are sending a donation check to Lori for this worthy cause. Secondly, If we are lucky enough to place in the upcoming Mayfield tournament that is being held on September 13th and 14th, We are pledging 25% of our prize money to the purchase of the holding tanks, as well! We challenge all of the CHAPTER #57 Members that are participating in the upcoming Mayfield tournament, to pledge a portion of any winnings to this cause. C'mon Guys and Gals, We're talking about baby muskies here...........That 50" musky that you dream about, might just be raised in a tank you helped purchase!
