I would go before or after the holiday. It gets pretty outrageous out there with the lake being small and a number of water skiers and jet heads out there. Spinners and twich baits are all good. Always figure 8, or make big circles or L shapes in the water at the boat you never know from which directions the fish come from. Use whatever your favorite color is...most the time color doesn't matter. Silver or bronze spinners...use good line, tie a good knot, use a heavy 80# or more leader. Have a good knotless net.Pliers, wire cutter and mouth spreader. Catch and release please.
****Remember 50 inch limit, let em' go so they can grow***

Definately try and avoid fishing it on 4th of July weekend! It is bad enough on normal weekends. Why they think they have to wakeboard in shallow water 20ft from your boat I'm not sure, but they do it. To me 4ft weedy water is not where I would be boarding, but maybe brains aren't in the requirement for wakeboarding.

As far as the fishing whether you fish it during the week or on the weekend, Fish a lure for a while, if you get nothing try something else for a while. Don't get too impatient, it can take a while to find a muskie willing to take a lure. Keep moving and if you see structure that looks really good, throw a few things at it. Docks seem to be hotspots at silver right now due to the lack of new weedbeds. I did notice on sunday that the weeds are starting to pick up. By the 4th the weed beds should be established all over and the muskie will probably occupy them as much as the docks. If you get too frustrated with it, try cruising around in shallow water (if you have an electric) and spotting a muskie. I know when I was in the hunt for my first fish, it took a while but everytime I would get a follow or spot one in shallow water it made me want to catch one even more and always got me going again. Good luck!
