Northwest Fishing Reports

I am a muskies inc. member from chapter 29 located in Iowa. I am going to be in Seattle for a few days next week the 23rd thru the 25th was looking to see if anyone was looking for a partner one of those days i would love to fish on the lake it looks awesome in the magazine. I relize there is a tournament the following weekend and the lake is off limits to contestents but if someone you may know is not fishing it i would love to join them . I would be willing to compensate them for the time. Are there any guides on the lake i have not found any online. Thank you, Tracy Crail

That's a pretty nice 41 incher you pulled out of West Okoboji, isn't that where the Iowa State Record Tiger came from, too?

Most all of our Chapter members will probably be off the lake that week, but there are some great anglers on this forum who know how to fish muskie and aren't members........yet
Tell them you will reciprocate when they come out to the Iowa Great Lakes!

You traveling with a rod? I may be able to do an afternoon/evening on those days. No compensation needed as I can not gaurantee a fish. PM me if you find no better offers.

Way to step up Kenster...we've got a tourney out there on the 28th. Unfortunately Chapter 57 members who plan to fish the tourney cannot fish Tapps the week before the tourney ..All we gotta do now is get Kenster to join...Maybe if I take you out on my boat would you be willing?

Todd, if I gave in that easy then I wouldn't be able to meet all these interesting people while you guys are locked up on the couch dreaming about Muskies!! LOL! Anyone willing to loan out a rod and reel next week? (not like you'll be headed over to Evergreen hehehe!) I have my main setup 7'9" Shimano Clarus with a Shimano Cruxis Baitcaster, then some smaller set-ups that have landed muskies in the past but I would like iamusky to feel at home with his regular gear! BTW iamusky what do you prefer to use baitcaster or spinning reels? I'm sure these Chapter 57 Members would love to HOOK you up! And I'll do my best to show you a Lake Tapps Special and NOT let them down!

You guys are awesome!! Muskies inc. is a great group to join i would have no problem paying for a membership for a trip fishing i am excited to get there. I normally use baitcat setups but i am not picky. By the way it don't rain much out there does it most of our state is flooded out. Anyone out there that ever makes it to Iowa and wants to go musky fishing let me know i will hook you up. Thanks guys, Tracy

It doesn't rain as much as people think it does.NYC gets way more rain annually then us,however,we seem to get more cloudy days.You'll enjoy Tapps,have fun and good luck out there.

All of a sudden I'm starting to feel sick on Monday. (cough>>>>cough)
Hmm...have the whole lake to ourselves after a warm weekend, catch (1) 30"TM each, and get paid!!!!!!!! WOW!!

Iwill be coming by plane it better make it!!!! No fishing pressure should be great time they should be hungry for a bucktail/spinnerbait. Has fishing been good lately not sure if this is a good time period or not but i suppose with a tourney coming up it should be decent. This old farm boy is ready!!! By the way, here is a good place to say: thanks to all the Chapter members staying off Lake Tapps next week. If the lake had all the usual pressure, it would affect the Tournament play.

Bad Esox and I had booked the vacation time and planned a year in advance, to camp out over at Curlew the week BEFORE the Tournament this year.
When we found out, later,about the ruling about staying off the lake, even fishing for other species, we were disappointed, but we understood. Went horseback riding up in the high country (insert plug for Canaan Ranch near Tonasket here!!)
Just the pressure, & the sore-mouthed; it is better for the fish and for the angler to give it a rest during the week. Besides, I think it keeps if fair for the folks coming from out of town; better equality in the playing field as far as spotting them. Just one of the many reasons I like being a part of this club: they really are about the integrity of the fish and having fun for ALL.

The problem with having club members off the lake the week prior to a tournament is the assumption that club members are the only anglers who fish the lake for Muskie's ,when in reality there are more anglers who are not members chasing muskie in the lake than members. It also doesn't allow members who have never fished the lake an opportunity to get a look at the lake prior to the tourny so they have some idea of where they may want to fish, giving the local guys the upper hand when tournament day arrives. I think the day prior to the tournament having the lake off limits would be a better solution. If I was looking to win a tournament I wouldn't want to sore mouth a number of Muskie prior to the competition, it would only hurt my chances. But if I had never fished the lake before a day on the lake would be nice to put me on an even playing field with the locals! Mike

I agree the loclas have an upper hand, I have never fished TAPPS. This tournament will be my first time......so I have no clue where to start.
Now that is fine because when its time for the Merwin tournament, Look out!!!! I know where the fish are not BITING......"The whole lake"

These rules are not new: it is common practice amongst a lot of different species competitions.
Many, many bass teams go to Potholes for 2-3 weekends BEFORE an upcoming Tournament to scope out the situation, because they can't fish it 5 days before.
It gives lots of folks the opportunity to try out a new lake, by pre-fishing.
Sure there are going to be non-members out there, but we would add to that pressure if we fished it too.

Besides, jigman... AREN'T YOU WORRIED ABOUT BAD FISH KARMA???? ...........HOWL.....
