I'm going to fish Mayfield June 21 and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on best tiger tackle for that lake. I'm a new tigerpac member and new to tigers actually. Any info would help. Thanks!

Hang tight,I've only fished tigers in Mayfield a couple of times and all were unsuccessful. We have several members that are very familiar with the waters there.

We're having a late spring this year and the water is still cold so you should use small bucktails, bass plugs, and lures under 6." When I was there on June 4, the surface water temp ranged from 49 degrees in the main lake near the dam to 54 degrees in the hatchery cove, and I saw only 1 fish. It was hanging out on an underwater snag about 3 feet down and was lethargic. The lake should warm up some by June 21, which may bring up more fish from the depths and make them a little more active, but given the continuing un-summer-like weather we've been having you're probably going to face difficult fishing conditions. Look for muskies trying to get warm by hugging the banks (these fish will be right up against the dirt in very shallow water) and sitting on top of sawed-off stumps (wood absorbs and radiates heat). Remember, the fish will seek warmth in these conditions, and shallow water and the stagnant water in small coves and shoreline indentations is warmer than moving water.
