Muskie on the Fly by Robert Tomes
Hello gents:
The new issue of Musky Hunter Magazine has an article called "Pop the Top for Fly Rod Muskies", which is an excerpt from a new book called "Muskie on the Fly" by Robert Tomes. Tomes is from Mill Creek, WA. and the book is supposed to be much anticipated.
I probably won't be buying it (@$60) but the magazine talks a lot about technique. Not much on the time constraints of over-playing a fish, but he may address it in the book.
Thought you fly guys would be interested, if you don't already know....

I ordered that book a year ago and am still waiting for it....
A guide I went out with, Troy Anderson, supposedly helped him out with some of it.

I bet that would be right up Marc Martyn's alley. I seem to recall at one point in time he was going to be doing some research on fly fishing for muskies over the winter...
I bet it would be a hoot to hook up with one of those beasts on a fly rod... :bounce:

That hoot may just come true this weekend. We are going out and giving Silver a shot. I am hoping that they are starting to move into the shallows. The water temperature is only in the high 40's. It will be fun to try out the new rod and reel with the large flies even if we don't get anything.leahcim_dahc wrote:I bet that would be right up Marc Martyn's alley. I'll have both cameras with me, the digital still and the camcorder. Even if we come back without anything, it will be interesting to scope out the bottom structure and where the weed beds are. It has been decades since I have even been on that lake.
Any day on the water with a rod in my hand is a good day:thumright
