I hope by asking this question I don't get any sneers. Does anyone know of any northern pike lakes in the state? I would assume if their were any, they'd be located northeast. I recently spoke to a gentleman from WDFW who stated they didn't have any record of this, however stated it was possible. I am aware of pike in B.C and just over the border in Idaho(Lake Cour D'Alene set a new state record last summer...a big,big pike)

Kevin; No body will send a sneer your way for asking about the water wolf. Its another great toothy critter, one I wish we had more of. Long Lake and the Pend Oreille River are the 2 most productive pike waters here in Eastern Washington. Of the two, the Pend Oreille River is by far the best. The fishing turns on in May when the pike move into the sloughs that have warmer water. Starting at Newport, work North on the river and hit the sloughs and large wood piles along shore. Some of the sloughs are big and you can fish them for hours. Spinnerbaits and in-line bucktails work well. When the weeds come up it's best toss spinnerbaits. For more info about Pike in the river call Andy Naccarto at Pend Oreille Valley Sportsman: 208-437-3636.
Coeur d'Alene has some huge fish in it. Pike can be more difficult to locate because the lake is BIG. I took the easy way on Coeur d'Alene and hired Jeff Smith from Fins-n-Feathers Tackle and Guide Service in Coeur d'Alene, 208-667-9304. We went out for a day and he showed me some good locations to start the year off. While we caught pike we talked about the seasonal movements of the pike in the lake. He was very open and helpful.
I don't if there are any west side pike lakes, but if there are some one who frequents this forum will post about it.

Did anyone else see the photo of the pike caught out of the Cowlitz? If anyone else has done so or heard about catching a pike out of there please let me know? I found this very interesting, wondering if something is going on there or just a fluke.
Thanks Kevin
