Very well done Rick. How does it hold up in the water? I use the same markers for my perch flies and it seems to fade after a couple uses. However its effective and easy to use.

My son has been dabbling with some of my lures but he hasn't graduated to markers just yet but he's visually expressive in the crayon dept.
How many muskies have you caught with the perch design? and how many prior?
I'm curious to gauge the perch pattern vs. standard

My new bait I haven't had a chance to fish yet.The first bait was a lite trout color and to me in was just plain ugly. I never caught a fish on it in that color, but the first time I fished it in the Perch color I got 3 Pike including the 14 pounder. I also got some Pike on it after that but not sure just how many. Some where between 8 to 12. Then there were the 3 Muskies that hit it. So 0 fish before 15 to 18 after? Sounds like a good improvement to me.

Is there not a perch pattern available in this model?
I havn't used any of these baits,so I'm not at all familiar with them.

They currently do not make it in colors I like to fish like Perch or baby Bass. Due to my and others requests they are bringing out a few new colors in October. One is what they call a Perch/Bluegill color that in not a real good imitation of either but should catch fish. The other colors will be Fire-tiger, Baby Bass, and Ghost minnow. Really looking forward to the Fire-tiger coming out. I have seen the new colors but I can't post pixs of them yet as they asked me to keep it under my hat for now. I must say that I like my Perch a lot better then the one the are bringing out so I may continue to paint my own.
Oh and if you have not tried this bait you shoiuld. Get the 168mm version though it swims a lot better then the
120 mm one does. At 6 3/4" it is just the right size for Pike and Muskies.

Fish-n, you can post the colors now. Once they came out in ICAST it was OK.
The following link takes everyone to a down load site for each option that River2Sea is coming out with this year.
Page 14 is the S-Waver page.

The lite trout is actually their best selling color, and in lakes with trout in them, it is the best color they had by far. I use the 120 all of the time for Bass, big Rainbows, Browns, etc.
Still, I am so looking forward to trying some of the new colors. Still, I have a bunch of the hitch and kokanee that I will be painting as well.

FNF..I'm suprised that you are not using your fool baits for musky fishing. As much as you pushed those baits and you don't use them? I would have thought they'd nail the tigers..guess not? I also find it kinda funny coloring the s-waves with a sharpie. Fish really do not care how fancy pants your baits look. Its mostly eye candy for the fishermen. Fish either see light or dark or feel vibrations in their lateral lines..and just one more thing..seems like a lot of guys get caught up in having to have musky baits that are 6-8 inches long supposedly perfect sized for northerns and muskies? I have found these muskies(bigger fish) are nailing the 10 inch or bigger baits now. The fish are bigger and would rather have a steak for supper than a vienna sausage. Good luck out there. Todd

I have to agree with you Todd. I know the tigers will take smaller bait. Nobody will debate that. But I think you are right that the bigger tigers are going to opt for a larger meal instead of something small. Look at it from their prospective. One big meal, or 10 small ones. What takes more energy? The big meal will provide a lot more energy for the given effort than 10 small meals.
I also believe you are right on the colors for the most part. I don't think you need all the detail. Detail is for selling lures, not for selling it to the fish. Lots of flash, lots of smash, and contrasting colors go good this time of year. Maybe in the late fall, early spring when the baits are moving a little slower, it may make more difference. But not right now.

If detail sells lures then this one will defenitely sell lures. Qimyr9VMb7k&feature=related
If action and real live looking lures sells lures, this one will really sell. They only seem to be available in Europe right now. I have found a couple of websites from over there that I may be able to get them from. Watch the video and you will want one to. At the very end of the video they show several of their baits sitting on the bottom of the lake. It looks like a small school of real fish. Unless of course there really aren't any Pink or Chartreuse fish out there. I opened an account at one of the websites, but with shipping one lure ends up costing about $80. The lure it's self is only about $52 if I am calculating the Euros correctly. If there re a few guys out there that wanted them, we could get together and save a ton on the shipping.Looks like it would be the same shipping cost on up to about 4 items. You can search for them yourself. It's the IZUMI Perch alive, or the IZUMI Shad Alive in the perch pattern. Awsome looking bait.

Fished the P.O. today. Got my first fish on my new Perch S-waver today. First I lost a real nice one about 10+ pounds but I did get a 26" Pike to the boat , so my hopes for getting a few nice Tigers in the tourney on Saturday looks good. :money:
c
Had a bunch of fallowers today on soft swimbaits but they wouldn't commit to them. We got some monster Allies also. Wasn't a 5 star day but a good 2 1/2 or 3 day at least. I lost my favorite crankbait to a giant smallie too!!!!!

I thought I would chime in late on the topic of patterns. I will agree, and disagree, with dougw and muskyhunter.
I contend that first and foremost is the action. In this regard, I agree with both in as much that this is the most important.
I then believe that profile is next important. To a fish with a small mouth, a short fat bait is not as tempting as a long narrow bait. To a fish with a large mouth, fat profiles often out fish long narrow profiles.
Third is size. So, in this respect, we can agree, again, in as much as any fish will prefer the largest size bait it can eat, simply because it takes as much energy to catch a large meal as a small meal. Of course, fishing larger baits will thin out the smaller fish while small baits will not necessarily eliminate the larger fish.
Forth, now we get color. I am old school, with a lot of lures that are not "photo print" in my boxes. They all catch fish, and most of the time I agree that general color is critical, not specific color. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of days when a specific pattern is the only one that will work. In this respect, we will need to agree to disagree. Color is only forth on my list, but it is still important.
Fifth is scent. With slow presentation, in cold water, scent has proven to be important. With faster presentations, reaction strikes, warmer water, scent seems to offer no advantage.
FNF, I like your perch color, and I also am lobbying River2Sea for a better perch. I will post up my perch soon. Perch offers a lot of advantages to the northern fisherman that you and I find so important. Nevertheless, the color is only 4th on the list of important factors.
If you have the action right (S-Waver has a great Circle-Escape action),
and if you have the profile right (S-Waver is narrow enough for small mouth fish but robust enough for big fish,
and you have the size correct (the 168 is good, not great, but good for pike and muskie),
then finding the right color verses the "that will do color" will make a huge difference.
