June 11, Lk Tapps Chapter 57 Tournament

Post by Dex » Sat Jun 04, 2011 4:42 am

This will be our second outing of the year and I'm hoping we get some better cooperation from the tigers this time around. :nemo:

June 11 2011, Lake Tapps
0530-0600, Meet at the North Park Gate to sign in.
0600-0630, Launch Boats
0700-300, Tournament
300-330, Awards

Cost will be $10 per angler with a $10 side option for biggest fish. Also please remember that the booth is now open at the park so be prepared to pay to enter. If I remember correctly it’s $15 to launch with the gates opening at 0600.

Look forward to seeing you all there Chapter 57...

Can't wait to join you guys! I will be heading over on Friday. Can't thank Mike Floyd enough for offering a seat! I am assuming the launch is at the Pierce County Park and boat launch located on the North end of the lake? I will be heading down from Bellevue. According to Mapquest, that will take about 45min to an hour. Is that about right? Hopefully no heavy traffic at that time? Should I expect any delays?

Gald to have you Doug.

I have no idea what traffic will look like coming from Bellevue that time a day, but I sure it won't be to bad.

Safe travels and we'll see you Sat @ the North Park.

Glad you found a partner Doug! That's cool for Mike to do. Now show them westsiders how it's done on their own lake!

I'll give it my best. I would have to say the driver of the boat will be the reason I catch fish though! He definitely knows the lake, whereas I will just be at his mercy!

Thank you very much Mike for the spot!

Looking forward to seeing you, Doug!
Usually, 45 min. - hour. But it IS 405 southbound; the most unpredictable freeway in WA.
They are doing lots of construction on 405 in downtown Bellevue, by Overlake.

We have a pair of Tournament contestants staying with us on Friday night, too.
And we are 1/2 way from Bellevue to Lake Tapps, so if you want to stop in for coffee on the way down Sat. morn, you can follow them to the North County Park.
It can be a little tricky the 1st time there.

Isn't this the BEST part of Muskies, Inc? Getting to know muskie anglers from all over, allowing you to hook up with other muskie nuts in any state there are muskies... or just across the pass!

Good Luck everyone!!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

Today was a blast……….

Great day filled with great people chasing tigers on Lake Tapps. We had 15 anglers come out to enjoy some Muskie fishing to include our good friend Doug Wood who traveled all the way from Spokane to join us. At one point I saw him taking notes (LOL) that I’m sure he’ll put to good use. Throughout the day several nice Tigers were spotted and a healthy 37”ish was hooked, but none made it into the boat for an official catch. In the end Mike Floyd walked away with some extra cash as we raffled off the prize money and everyone hung around after to share stories. We also had a surprise visit from the WDFW checking-in on the action and taking the time to get to know the members of the NW Tiger Pac a little better. We have a great relationship with the WDFW and anytime we can work together in support of this fishery is time well spent. Thanks Mike, your attendance was greatly appreciated.

Thanks again everyone for coming out and I promise that one day soon the action will pick-up.

Next up: The Jack Tipping Classic “OPEN” Tournament @ Lake Mayfield (July 16&17). This will be hosted in the town of Mossyrock as part of their MUSKIES DAYS. Please note, this is open to the public with no membership required but limited to only 35 two person teams so start making your plans now.

See you there.

Norm and Fellow MI Members,

I want to say thank you very much for the warm welcome to your tournament! Regardless of fish cooperation, I had a fantastic time. Mike, thanks very much for inviting me onto your boat to fish. If any of you guys have an opportunity to make it over here, but can't drag that boat, be sure and get in touch with us. We will find a place to get you on a boat. My hat's off to Norm and Chapter 57! Very good group of people on the west side!!
