Rules are posted on the website! There were minor changes made for the scoring during tonight's meeting. The significant change is as follows: [h] Up to 4 muskies per team will be counted in the tournament. [/h]

No, you don't stop fishing. If you catch more than 4 then you would just count your biggest four.

The way Curlew is, the rule may be a moot point. We wanted to "level the playing field" a little, so to speak. Some of our members fish Curlew quite a bit and do have that potential, IF the bite is on. Since it is an open tournament, that will give a better chance to all..... I just want one fish..... Granted, over 50"!!!! Does anyone from 57 know.... Is the LAX reproductions offer still stand for any fish over 50"? I.e., free reproduction? That is my goal!!!!! Who cares about top honors of catching the most. I want Quality!!!!! The chase is on guys! Of course, winning the bragging rights for getting the first 50" fish, between chapters would be a HUGE bonus!!!! I know there have been 50"+ fish caught there, but not yet by either of our clubs.....

Is that standing for ANY member that takes a 50" fish? I thought it was just in our tournaments?

Besides... You throw those little dinky lures. Tigers like BIG lures!!!!!!! :bounce:

Unless you guys (chapter 60) contacted LAX directly, your tournament does not qualify for the free reproduction of the biggest fish 50"+. The way I presented it to LAX was for chapter 57's mayfield open now known as the jack tipping classic or if no qualifying fish was caught at that tournament they would then make the offer available at the 24 hour esoxaganza tournament. This offer stands only for those two tournaments until a qualifying fish is caught again unless one of you guys from 60 got LAX to commit to one of your tournaments. I don't want to be the bad guy but I would hate for someone to expect something and not get it.

Thanks Lucius for the clarification. Guess we will need to be talking to LAX then! I think we should talk to them, and see if we can get them to back all of the MI tournaments which we put on in the state, 57 and 60.... I think it presents a good rivalry for us to carry between the two of us. =)

I agree doug. it would be a great rivalry between the two chapters. Whoever wins the LAX replica has to buy the other chapter dinner.

Thanks for the update Buddy... I don't get on here much anymore so it's nice to see people like you keeping things stright....LOL

Next chance for the LAX will be at the Chap 57, Jack Tipping Classic in July. Remember this is an "open" event so everyone that would like to come out is WELCOME. We also have a cash prize for the biggest Muskie over 50" that we rolled over from last year as well.

Going to be great

Water clarity, best I have seen. I bet there was 20 feet of visability. Looked like you were floating on air most of the time. Water was up to about 60 degrees. I saw one spot that hit 63.

Now for the REAL NEWS!!! Fish.....
Didn't see a fish all day, until the last HOUR of the tournament. Saw 6 different muskies in that hour!!! The smallest was likely about 18" and the largest was pushing low to mid 40's. ALL of them were under the Trestle. Chuck/Chris and Eddie/ Myself chased those fish from side to side for the better part of 1/2 an hour. Drop anything in front of them, and they just shrugged you off and moved on the opposite side. All but the 40"+ stayed in the pilings, until one made the fatal mistake to come out on MY side of the boat. I dropped my Mepps Giant Killer in front of him and for whatever reason this time he took it! With 15 minutes to spare, we took pictures and headed back to Tiffany's to end the tournament!!! He/she (didn't look) was nothing to write home about, spare one thing..... She won the tournament for us.

Upon returning to Tiffany's, and AFTER the tournament had ended, someone spotted a tiger sitting not 10 feet from shore, next to the docks! She was maybe a 38" fish, sitting in about 1' of water sunning and digesting. Chuck threw a very large Bulldog looking lure at her, and hit her on the head. She just swam off!

I stayed the night and went out again today. I saw 4 different muskies, and chased them all over till they sunk into the deep. On the way back in to the State Park, I decided to cast out the island. On the west side, my Mepps Muskie Killer just hit the water, and instantly the water exploded! Into the net came a nice 43"x 18.5" fish! I saw two more muskies after that (2 of 4 total I saw for the day).

Chris Gade's son, Gage was casting off the dock at Tiffany's this morning, and landed a 41" fish! Way to go Gage!!!! I think Gage is only about 8-9 years old? What a way to start the day!

I'll post some pictures shortly after I post a report and get the links.....

Awesome News Doug,

Congrats on the Tournament Win!!! If anyone deserves a win and some nice fish it is certainly You!!! Great to hear of some Tiger's finally being caught out of the Good Ole USS Pend Oreille, hopefully it will certainly start to pick up over the next month or so!!! Guess we will have to wait and see. Good luck thru out the remainder of the year, look forward to some great reports down the road.

Congrats to Gage too, I bet He is absolutely Pumped!!! Hopefully I can get my little man locked into a nice 40 + incher this year. It would be his very first if we can make it happen. Now that would be a great photo op!!!

Nate
