Ok, here are a few photos some of the anglers have sent me, but I think there are more out there? Looks like a good time! You gotta be a tough NW angler to hang in there on weather days like that. Wind and cold and all that rain- but it all becomes immaterial when there are fish in the net, eh?

Just out of curiosity ,I thought pike were C&R fish . I didnt think people kept and ate them.

Nope, currently there are no regs. on them. And as anyone from the Midwest will tell you, they are very tasty, especially fried up for a shore lunch like the guys from Muskies, Inc., Chapter 60, Spokane just did in September. They breed like rabbits so there it is not a problem. The Tiger Muskie, on the other hand is a cross between a pike and a pure muskellunge and like most cross-breds in nature, are sterile. So they are protected by the 50 inch minimum regulation and they have to be stocked.

Thats the fish I think I was talking about . The cross bred one. I've eaten pike many times. Its quite good. Our family make a dish on Passover that has Pike and carp in it ground together to form "Gefilte Fish". Its great with horseradish.

Awesome photoshop of my boat! I can't wait to get her painted now. I had visions of calling her the "Mystic Esox" but the USS Pend Orielle is a close second now! Oh, and the first picture was of everyone checking out my "live well"..... (The bottom of the boat, which had maybe 2" of water after all that rain!!!!)

Doug W I love your boat and trailer, especially the wheels on the trailer. They are cool looking. She looks like a fun boat but I don't think I'd want to be out in her in rough water though. I'm a sissy when it comes to rough water. Looks and sounds like you all had a good time even though the weather was bad.

Doug W that boat is certainly a classic and adds a bit of flavor to the fishing experience. It lent itself to the antique photo look.

Antique photo look? it is a antique I'm prett sure you cant go to Altons Tire and pick up a set of those rims LOL You definetly know when dougs trailers in the parking lot.

Looks like it was a lot of fun. I really wish I could have been there for this one. I must say I have only been out once since I have been here and now that the lakes are closed to boating (inspection stations for invasive species are no long manned by the Colorado division of wildlife) I won't be able to go fishing until next year. Maybe I can make it up there next year for one of the tournies:-$

Yes, Buddy it was a lot of fun. Even with the weather, the fish were still active. We certainly missed your presence. Now we have Nate whom shares an equal passion for the Pike and loved the river so much he took a little swim just before we left. I've never seen anyone get in and out of the water so fast. Then there is Doug W's boat she is an antique, very cool. Reminded me of growing up on Coeurd"Alene Lake where I saw many just like it. There are very few around still as they required tremendous up keep. I spent many winter afternoons in my buddies boat shed sanding, chalking and repainting his wood boats.

With the epoxy/fiberglass combination I put on the hull last summer, I won't have to worry about caulking it. I just have to get it painted the way it was, and then start on the inside. I have been documenting the project in photos.

Definitely not light on the work, but well worth it. It was great to have my dad and the two boys in it yesterday on Silver Lake.
