Northwest Fishing Reports

Has anybody tried chasing these monsters with a flyrod out at Merwin?

It is most definately on my list...

Anyone?

Yes, We have a couple of members who fish muskies primarily on the fly!

They have not had much luck, as of yet, but I'm sure their day is coming...Check with Sparky1doug...aka Doug...

Doug, is a great guy and is relatively new to muskie fishing. He is a great Fly-Fisherman etc...and has seriously been bitten by the muskie bug!...LOL... I don't think he has missed an opportunity to fish one of our events since he joined our Chapter! A real fly/muskie enthusiast!

I've tried several times to entice a bad boy with a fly, but have yet to be successful. That's doesn't mean that I am giving up though.

It's certainly a different ball game with the fly. Merwin would be great fly water when they are in shallows on the flats. Now that they're getting into the fall feed it might just heat up. I gave it a shot with the fly last tourney and got some follows. So I'll be back this fall to give it a full days effort. If my patterns looked more like squaw fish then perch that might also help. Hint, at least 5" long streamers brown on white with a trailer hook!!! I've had several hits this year and found I must include a trailer or frustration will be the only thing I get. Fly fishing for the Tigers is very promising but there is a huge learning curve. I would like to try it with another flyfisher as it is a little tough while your partner is slinging gear. You get one cast to their three and have a hard time getting to "first water". Good luck and good fish'n >:"":>.

I have a place at campers hideaway, and would be be willing to meet up, and give it a shot... would also be willing to use my place at a "fly tying, drinking, camping, get together joint, for all things musky fly fishing...

Anytime anyone wants to come down and chase em, let me know.. we can crash up there, and fish..
