The Gil Hamm, "Chapter Challunge" is the premier Muskies, Inc. event - it brings us together to celebrate one thing we all have in common...a deeply seeded passion for muskies! In 1977 the first "Challunge" was held in late September on the Minoqua Chain and was hosted by the "Chicagoland" chapter. Three chapters attended; Chicagoland, Twin Cities, and Fargo Moorhead.

The first muskie ever caught in this event was a 40 inch fish...although, as of today, there have been many fish caught over 50 inches!!! Lots of fun!!! If you are lucky enough to win this event you will recieve the "Lunge Bucket" that is still awarded each year to the chapter winning the "challunge".

The 2010 Gil Hamm, Chapter Challunge, will be held at Lake Vermillion Minnesota this year! The date is August 25-27 and it will be hosted by the 2009 Challenge winners, Star of the North chapter, along with the Brainerd Lakes chapter. Cabins are being held for the week of August 21 - 28 at Vermillion Dam Lodge if any of our Washington members are interested in attending please let me know...It would be great to have Chapter 57, the NW TIGER PAC represented, as well as the "new" chapter #60 the "MOUNTAIN MUSKIES" of Spokane be represented...My good friend caught his "personal best" on Lake Vermillion last year...a 56 inch beaut!!! Now that my friend is a muskie!

Vermillion Dam Lodge. Host for the 2010 Chapter Challenge: PH#: 1 - 218 - 666 - 5418...One of Minnesota's finest year around family resorts. This is an awesome lake and I know our Muskies, Inc. members are going to catch some huge muskies there! I want to go!!!! We definitely have to make future plans to attend one of these "Challunges" soon...Show'em all what some "Mountain Tigers" can do!...LOL...

Tight Lines All...

I know that many of you may think that this too far away etc...and that it does cost a couple of bucks to attend etc...especially, for those of us out here in Washington State...but what an opportunity to catch a "World Class" pure-bred muskie! My Cousin caught a 56 inch muskie last year on Lake Vermilion!!! Even if you can't make it this year...and that list does include me...I can't express how much I would love to attend this event on Lake Vermilion back in Minnesota!...one of the best bodies of water for muskies anywhere in the world as of now!...maybe you/we can plan to go in the future! The "Chapter Challunge" is a yearly Muskies, Inc. Tradition.

These events have been well attended in the past and seem to be very enjoyable for those Muskies, Inc. Members who participate. The "Chapter Challunge" hosts hundreds of M.I. Members each year!

The time for the 2010 Gil Hamm Chapter Challunge is drawing near. I am hearing the contestant field is strong again this year with many of our Chapters being represented from across the United States.

Cabins are being held for the week of August 21 - 28 at Vermillion Dam Lodge in Minnesota. This event is truly amazing and is strong in "tradition" within Muskies, Inc. This could be the year a "new" world record fish could be caught...we are getting a little closer every year now to breaking that record! Thank-you, Mr. Gil Hamm and your very visionary "Catch & Release" philosophy...Even though Gil has left us for that great Muskie lake in the sky...his hard work, traditions, and dedication live on through all of us who believe...

The "Big Fish" award was won with a 54.25 inch Muskie! Awesome!!!!!
