September 24 Hour "Extravaganza" info

Post by Dex » Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:17 am

Hey gang,

I just got off the phone with my friends and Fisherman's cove resort located on Lake Curlew and made my reservations for our 24 Hour "Extravaganza" tournament this year. The reason I share this with all of you is because I learned that many people have already made reservations and what few cabins are left may go soon as well. If this is the case remember there is another place just across the pond called Tiffany’s Resort. I personally have not had the opportunity to stay there but I know many that have and none had anything bad to say and if I'm not mistaken, they have been a longtime supporter of this washington lakes as well. I guess what this all comes down to is that the word is out and some planning ahead may be needed for this one.

I made this trip last year and thou the drive was a bit longer for us on the wet-side of the state, it was well worth it. Lake Curlew one hellava place to fish, and the staff at the resort are some of the nicest people I've meet. If you were thinking of joining us for a fun filled event this year, this would be the one.

You won't be disappointed..........

This event will take place over the 4th weekend in September (24-26). As I understand it, we will start the tournament at 7pm on Friday (24 Sept) and will continue to 7pm Saturday. Please stay tuned to the Chapter 57 web-site for updates as time gets closer.

Questions, Just ask.....

See you all there : salut:

I would like to mention that Tiffany's Resort, also on Curlew Lake, is the resort business that has supported WL.com for many years as a sponsor. While I appreciate that the cove resort is the event's tournement resort, I will point out that you can certainly give Tiffany's a call as they will likely have space, too. They have a private boat launch that will handle bigger boats.

Plus staying there helps support this site, so I guess staying at either you'll be supporting a worthy cause.

I'd like to add that Tiffanys is a great place to stay. The cabins are cozy. In the evenings you can throw small cranks for bass all along the shore there. We will be staying there again this year over the 4th of July weekend.

They also have a small selection of tackle for muskys, trout, kokanee, and bass.

Yes this will be the first annual 24 hr tournament. The official name of the tournament is call the Esoxaganza

In case none of you have seen this fish was caught last year at curlew

I am planning on having a 12 pack of red bull and becoming the first member to catch a 50"+ tiger in a tournament:cheers:

We are also expanding our Eastern Muskie fishing horizons. We have an Open Muskie Tournament on Silver Lake on May 15th that should be a good time. I heard from a few eastsiders that catching multiple muskies in 1 day is not uncommon on this lake.

I just received an email in regards to the large Tiger Muskie. I guess the Tiger was 52" and not 50.5" as originally thought. The gentlemen at Tiffany's resort helped measure the fish from my understanding. I have attached a additional picture and newsletter.

Did we ever hear what really happened to this Musky?

There have been stories about it being released and other stated that it didn't make.

Either way it's one hellava fish.

Question: Are practice days allowed under the club's rules?

Fire Tiger,

If I"m not mistaken we are allowing them for this tournament due to the travel time involved. I'll look into this and get an answer.

Good question.......

Can't wait! You all know how many fish we saw there last year --- this year- later in the summer, fishing under a full moon.......!!
And such great people to camp/fish/tell stories with, LOL. It is already looking to be a bigger crowd than last year! Fisherman's Cove, Tiffany's and Black Beach Resort; come and stay and play with the TIGER PAC at Curlew this year. Get those reservations in to your favorite resort today! Picture below was just featured in the February issue of MUSKIE Magazine, the national magazine for Muskies, Inc. throughout the United States.

Happy Campers, this bunch, don't miss it!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
