Chapter 57 Curlew Lk Musky Tourney Results
Well folks, here's the results of a fantastic weekend:
First off I'd like to say thanx to all that attended the first musky tourney of 2008. If you found an excuse not to go, sorry. You missed a great weekend of fishing a beautiful musky lake under warm, sunny skies and calm conditions with a great crowd.
Another thanx to all that participated in the pot-luck supper after the tourney. Great time to BS, make new friends, rekindle old ones and just plain ol 'have fun'. It don't get no better than this.
I also want to sincerely thank Randy Osborne and Bill Baker of the WDFW for attending our event as judges. They were radio tracking some muskies this past week in Curlew so while there, they wanted to scan any caught fish for tags or transmitters but volunteered to witness the measuring process at the same time. Thanx a lot guys. Fantastic job.
Mike Wilkinsin of the WDFW also participated in our contestants meeting to inform us of the dangers of invasive weeds and zebra mussels. Thanx Mike.
First place: Frank Haw with a nice healthy 45.5"er. Talk about new member luck. Frank joined at the tourney then proceeded to show us his expertise. Congrats Frank.
Second place: Todd Reis measured a fat 34"er. Todd's fish had a WDFW tag in it. This fish was 4 years old and healthy. Todd's our membership chairman and a well deserved winner. Congrats Todd.
Third place was simply an honorable mention: Tom Schaffenocker successfully landed not only his first musky but also his biggest(it was huge)in a cradle but decided it was better released before the judge boat arrived. Congrats on your PB Tom.
Jill, practice some with that cradle for the next one. LOL
This tourney was hosted out of Fisherman's Cove Resort. The owners(Jack and Sandy Beck)are great folks and run a great resort. First class all the way. Thanx Jack & Sandy for everything. Can't wait till next year.
Thanx again and hope to see everyone at the next event.

I need to go to Eastern Washington.
Is that the WDFW boat with the wires dangling in the water? Electroshock boat? I'd be eating good with a boat like that

In case anyone was wondering: The second place musky came on a Ductail Lures bucktail attached to a Charlie's leader.
Quality tackle that works.

Great job running the show Mark! Perry, Jani, Todd, Bill & Rosann make any event like a homecoming. I think this is one hell of a group of people and I'm glad you all came over to check out the lake. I told you guys it was a good one, didn't I? I hope the people who have been considering a membership will join up so they can participate in our future events.
You Eastsiders who've been out with me need to join up! Drop me a line here or on nwtigermuskies.com. Good times to be had by all!

Lets not forget who won...Mr. Haws' and his very nice 45 1/2incher. Hopefully we can get those photos up and give that young man some very well deserved recognition too!!

I don't have any pics of the tourney. KUP took all the pics and I just got an email from her that her computer had to go to the doctor.
Does anyone else have any pics of Frank Haw?

Man that weather sure looks nice, nothing like the last trip I had to Curlew. What a beautiful lake, wish I could have been there.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Alright guys, I'm trying to figure out how to post a picture of the boats as they were starting to blast off on the morning of the tournament. I don't know if this is going to work but I'm giving it a shot. Please bear with me. If it doesn't work send me a pm and tell me how to do it please.

Fantastic pics. Wish I could have been there, Curlew is quite a bit of a drive though. Looking forward to the next local event.
