Newman Lake Open Tournament

Post by dougw » Sun Jun 19, 2011 3:03 am

The Newman Lake Open Tournament was held today and there were several fish caught during the tournament. 8 fish over 30" were recorded and 3 under 30". The largest was 44". Twenty people showed up to participate. The weather didn't exactly cooperate, but for the number of fish taken, I will say who cares! All participants stayed and took part in the big raffle after the tournament. Thanks to all who participated and we hope to see you again soon.

Thank you very much to our sponsors for enabling us to run these raffles.

Pictures and the full story will follow soon. Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.

I had a great day for my first ever Muskie Tournament had 3 hits, 2 fish on, and landed 1 of them!!! Here it is. It was 35 1/2" and 13.3 pounds according to Craig's formula. Nice first ever Tiger I think. The fish I lost at the side of the boat was about 30" to 32". The fish I missed was the biggest at I'd say about 38"

Here is one on the scale.

All the fish that bit me today hit this Perch swimbait I "Painted up" myself using colored sharpies. I got no hits on any other baits.

I drew #10 or last place and sent the boats out and I sent 9 boats out in front of me. A late boat that could not get his engine started was still at the dock to make 11 so it was 11 boats and 22 fishermen and or ladies The late boat did finally get started a joined the tournament.

Nice to hear your catching Tigers over there. With the nicer weather I'm hoping things will start picking up over here.

Good job guys....
