any takers want to join me along the river, hopefully its not too blown out that I cant wade down from the hatchery. its been awhile since I have been there.
--is the river blown out beyond fishing? i checked the flow on the sky at goldbar and it was high, but i dont know at what flow the river becomes un wadable.

I look forward to reading your report, since I was thinking of going up there this weekend. I'm glad you're volunteering to drive out there to take a look!
That being said, last Saturday it was more like wading in a pond than a river.

If I had the time I'd join you as I've never fished the Wallace. Good luck!

I hit the Wallace today for a quick scouting and a couple hours of fishing as it was my first time there. The river is looking good, there are a few rollers and several people had nice bright fish and a few with a light blush. I could not get them to take my (store bought) eggs. I walked down from the hatchery to the rope swing hole. The guys right at the hatchery had caught a few drifting eggs, one guy under the cedar got his limit with jig and prawn under float. Four or five jumping around at the rope swing, with one caught on corky.
Should be good fishing tomorrow, I would join you but too much work.
It was a little work wading back upstream, luckily I did not take a dip on the slippery rocks, it was close a couple times.

I have to work tomorrow, but i went today, there were some fish, not thick but decent numbers and bitey. Ive been catching them on streamers i tied with shrimp oil, swung. The wallace isnt hot but theres fish to be caught. Red, orange, claret, pink, and purple seem to be getting the best bites.

I saw a guy doing well using float and jig tipped with prawn. That seems to be a favorite technique by many people i saw fishing.

Jonb,
Where were you at yesterday, I must have walked past you? I was there from about 10-1 and walked down from the hatchery to the rope swing hole.

I just had one good bobber down, a little too much slack in the line for a good set so it just got some free eggs. They are there if you know what you are doing, unlike me! the guys right at the gate caught some on eggs, but everyone else was using jig under float or corky and yarn.

May end up up there tomorrow morning. I used to practically live up there during silver season. I still gotta do it at least once a year.

If I could share some advice I've learned the hard way...don't sit around and wait to hear reports. Every day of fishing is different. Just because it was hot one day, the next day could be completely dead. And...not everyone gives accurate reports online. There are plenty of guys out there that are looking to misdirect others to keep them away from their river of choice.
Get out there and fish...you'll come up with reports of your own!

Change of plans going out sledding
. It gunna be a zoo at wallace tomorrow. If i was going i would get there EARLY! There is a sign that says it doesnt open till 7 or something but no one abides by it. Get a headlamp, or better yet dont. But get to your spot early and wait for daylight. If you do bring a light be very judicious about where you shine it. Small stream fish are hella spooky.
