Silver Season Over?

So without the rain we need, it seems to me the coho are in "spawning" mode and are now staging in holes/pockets. Most of the fish are pretty beat up. Is coho season over? Do you think we will get another push of fresh fish? Or are we done?

It's been rough for me this year. I must be fishing the wrong holes because nobody around me catches fish either. Eggs, spinners, spoons (dick nite), sand shrimp, corkie & yarn, jigs, you name it.
Don't be fooled by the quantity of good reports here. I'd bet a ton of members are getting skunked but don't bother to file the report. I know I don't file all of the crappy ones. Why report the same badness day after day? ](*,)

It sure feels like its starting to slow down. Starting to have to put some work into it to scratch out a few nice fish. A lot of fish have moved up the rivers and Im not about to go chacing some dark fish

Just because they moved upriver don't mean they are dark, I've caught good looking silvers in December on the sky. Don't give :up just yet :fish: :fish:

I was out fishing last sunday and saw a lady who caught a real chromer. Really nice looking fish. Im sure they are still out there, saw quite a few jumping last weekend. They are just a pain in the you know what to find. I still cant seem to hook my first coho. Ill be out there again this weekend still looking for my first coho. But i saw some jumping last weekend. Im really hoping its not over yet.

It's trickle time I think. This is more like what I am used to for river coho. Scratch out a fish here and there. Although, we sure found a nice school of cooperative fish Wednesday.

I report skunk trips for my own records, so I can look back years from now and not imagine I was a super-star angler when I only see 4-5 star days. Need to see the 1-2 star days to keep the ego in check. Gotta keep it real LOL.

when rivers are low, fish low, best advice ever. seasons are extended with this low water just means we are going to get a huge push of fish when the rivers rise but the fish out in the bay will still have nice meat regardless of how they look. personally I will be fishing for silvers along with steelhead into January.

It's beyond far from over. A shot if rain will help.

saw a few chromers while trout fishing on the satsop a few days ago. my coho season is probably over, saving the last couple punches for blackmouth.

We need rain. I saw a story on the national news last night about the fog in the Seattle area. I think they missed the real story; no rain here in 18 days in October. This is unheard of. I can find the fish, but they watch me cast and watch my offering go buy and I think they are laughing as they can clearly see what is happening. I had a stellar start to the season and now I havent caught silver in almost two weeks...depression is setting in. We need rain!

Rain would help. It seems like there is a lot less fish in this low clear water. I fish the lower skagit so we have been left with the few fish the indians dont get, they said they were done two weeks ago and keep getting extentions. And about the dark fish, im just saying I dont want to go way upriver where the majority of the fish are and weed through them to get a couple half bright ones. When I stop catching fish it will be time to change up to some blackmouth.

There is no rain in the forecast until Oct 31st .... and that one doesn't even look so serious... we will be catching silvers on Christmas if there is another batch of fish waiting in the salt ;)

We had a really big push of fish because of the rain, made for a few good weeks of fishing. Fishing in the salt has still been awesome, and the fish are still feeding out there. Plus the big b-runs wont start showing up for a few more weeks. Next shot of rain we get and the fishing will be hot once again

That's great to hear. We had a little sprinkle this morning. Not much at all but hopefully sense it's been so dry lately it will get the fish moving a little and we can have a good weekend of fishing. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Thanks for the replies guys, my depression has been setting in since the decline of catching numbers and fish color lately. I hope we get another clean run!

Hey Steelheadin360, curious about your comment that the salt is still awesome--i haven't seen a report this week. Are these still in the Shipwreck area or ??? About to put the boat away, but maybe another day of fishing!!
