First BaitCaster Set-Up...

Shes a beauty ! I got my first baitcasting rod and reel for salmon yesterday at wholesale sports. Paid $212, out of my own money. For my reel i chose an abu carcia ambassadeur 6601 c4 , i was casting it out earlier this morning. Casts very smooth, has a fast retrieve, you were right fishenfreak,i do love it
Paired with it is an 8'6 shimano convergence 10-20 pound, medium action rod. Very light and has alot of back bone, cant wait till my stomping grounds open up! One month from today
I swung by hunter farms yesterday, already bought my key to past the gate, so i walked down and checked out the river. Very clear, and i saw one fish roll, and i saw 2 sitting on the shelf. Pretty early, but its going to be a good year !

yeah, thats what I heard. My friends are already pumped but I am ready for quilcene silvers round 2, I think 27000 fish are expected back this year, a little less than last year but not bad. Going to be another fun hood canal season, probaly see ya around along with a 10,000 of my closest fishing buddies.

I think the quil is give or take 40 minutes from the skok. We used to run down to the skok if the quilcene was slow in august and it is also fun to get your 2 kings from the skok than run up to the quil to grab 2 silvers but that eguals a long day and lots of fish cleaning.

solid reels! i have a couple and then a couple older c3's
take care of it and it will last a long time!
Also have a convergence, its not the same one but i love that rod!
It has caught so many fish you can almost wiggle the guides out ;]

I love it, it casts so smooth. I have a c3 that works great as well, i got it for free from a friend.
I never had a chance to use the other blanks that the convergences had.
Im getting hooked on baitcasters, forgot spinning reels

Bait casters are great! If you don't Know how to use them they can be a big Pain in the butt! I love the Shimano Curados. Work's Great for Salmon and Steelhead!

Lol yeah i know what you mean, hard for people our age to get the money to buy good gear. I like the ambassadeurs , with how long they last, ill get a curado 3001e eventually but not anytime this season lol. Im happy with the set up i got, cant wait to test it out

My dad has a curado but I think my revo is way better, beautiful reel with the help of a nice inexpensive west coast premier rod from the general.
My first baitcaster was ambassador 5500 with a lamiglas norwest special, killer combo with many fish cought on that combo but now I like the smaller profile reels.

Hope to run into you fishbait. Maybe I can experience the Skok for the first time this year. I got an 8.6 baitcaster rod rated up to 17 pounds already that worked great for chums last year. Im prob looking at a Shimano Cardiff 301A holding some 20 pound mono. PM me if you want to share any tips.
