What the h3!! are pinks doin in the skoke?
I was out there today, and saw quite a few. Saw 6 caught, including one i caught at about 4 in the afternoon.
Released. It says nothing in the regs about pinks under the skokomish, every one i asked said pinks arent suppost to be up there. One guy said they do.
Ive never heard of pinks in the skoke today, thats where I go to get away from the pinks and fish for the big boys.
Hey flinginpooh, after you left the skoke did you get any the puyallup?
After you left the fishin' picked up a little bit.
Also goin out to Barrier Dam on thursday to see if I can get any steel, any one else gonna be there?

2 of the 6 pinks were chromers, 3 were semi chrome, and the last one is just plain ugly already had the hump and everything !
Most of the big boys were chrome, but some were already changing.

I didnt see any pinks caught but wasnt paying much attention to other people. I was trying to not get tangled and pay attention to my casting and fishing. I didnt feel a fish at all while I was there. First time fishing for kings there I didnt even feel one at all. Didnt see any signs of fish in the puyallup at all either. I know it will be good soon with all the pink action going on in the sound.

I'm going tomorrow morning... Anyone have any advice for a first timer? Never fished a river in Washington, let alone for a salmon.

Well, that's my last time posting here. Thanks for all the great info.... Seriously.
WA state has the rudest fisherman, just asked 2 people here at the river what's a good sized hook to use, and all they could say is "damn foreigner taking our fish". Funny, cause I would think people would be helpful around here, I sure am to all the American fishers that come to puerto rico and fish near my place.

I wasnt being rude to you at all. I was serious. You said your a first time fisher in wa rivers and your gonna go to the skok? I was saying pray. Its not an easy river for novice fisherman. I really think most of the people on that river really shouldnt fish at all. I didnt say anything about you being a foreigner, nor did I see anything about a hook size. Use a 2/0-2 hook for those fish. I usually use a 1/0 or a 2/0 for kings. I like to get my fish into the bank and fishing the skok depending on what hole your on youll need a good line. I run 30# braid main and a 20# leader. Dont matter too much on a color really. Want the truth on salmon its learn to floss a fish. Not snag em its floss em. Your gonna snag a few its fine release em and do it again. I was watching people just use a red hook on a 6foot leader flossed em just as good as I did when I used a purple fishscale corky and black yarn with stink. The reason I said watch learn pray is youll see how and what everyones using. Use the same amount of lead. Youll learn where the snags are in the river. There is more there now that the rivers flooded so much this past year. And there is alot of jackwagons there. Most of them dont have a curteous bone in there body. Most dont even have a clue of river fishing. I wasnt trying to be rude. I just didnt go into alot of details thats all.
