I have never fished for Salmon in the rivers here in my home state. Last month a friend and I were in Anchorage and tried Ship Creek. Didn't catch anything but caught the bug. Problem is I have no idea where to begin or how to fish them.

Honestly, for newbies, it's the easiest fishing I've ever encountered. The state website has a page dedicated on telling you how to catch them.

You need a swivel, lead wire, hook, corkie, yarn. You can google Corky and yarn setup or drift fishing and find plenty of ways to do it.

Hey, you posted a topic about Springers earlier this year with the same excitement. I ended up with a small jack about 4-5 lbs and I finally got one last Saturday about 18lbs and on the darker side.. I hope you didnt' jinx the upcoming season!! I think as a group (WA Lakes guys) hardly any of us bankies did well.

With that said...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

nickbell,

the best thing you can do is get out and try it. ask people questions that are fishing by you. see how they are tieing up there gear.

The most important thing though .....is to have fun.
