Well said Danny.fishenfreak wrote:Its more for people who are local, dont have much experience, and want to learn how to fish it so they can then themselves go out and catch fish. Also, i never fish in the crowds at the mouth, i have private land all to myself, and honestly bobber egg fishing all alone in the upper samish is A LOT more peaceful than booking a guide trip on the cowlitz with 100 other LOUD sleds, which also is the most heavily guided river anywhere for steelhead. Im oPen now for nooksack and skagit coho but everyone seems to want to get their little kid or wife into their first big king and not deal with any crowds. So yea, im not down shoulder to shoulder guiding at the mouth if thats what you thoughtMetal wrote:Arguing on whether or not you are floating bobber and eggs isn't what I find funny on this thread. I just can't believe that your charging people to fish that ditch. Where is the anaesthetic value there? I always thought that was a major portion of a trip. I'm not implying by any means that your tactics are unethical because I've seen you out a few times on other rivers. And if you can keep people paying you to fish the Samish more power to ya!

Re: Fun on the Samish
yep, well thats the way i see it at least, with the reputation samish has i can clearly see the skepticism, but ask anyone ive taken i bet not one person says they saw another fisherman during the day!

Re: Fun on the Samish
went to the samish for fun after guiding early this morning, nailed a few fish, lost some, finally landed this nice chromer below, then landed this HAWG dark ass buck, conservatively high 20's, could have gone 30, it was BIG. it was my second fish, so by law i am suppose to keep and quit, but i released because it was so dark, im not sure if thats legal or not but i figured as long as i quit after my first 2 legal hooked fish, keeping them isnt mandatory so i released him and headed home. WOohoo! fire cure still number 1 bait

Re: Fun on the Samish
Sometimes I get requests for combat fishing. It can be tough to pick it up and get used to fishing around 100 different people. Although the Samish show at the mouth is one of the most unruly bunch. I much prefer combat on the Skok or the Cowlitz, quite a different crowd.fishenfreak wrote:Lol you didnt really expect me tO bring clients to that s**tshow at the mouth did you? Re: Fun on the Samish
went to the samish today. saw 20+ cars parked at boe road so i went up river. all the fish are super boots. i got two fish for their eggs and the meat looked bad. it was almost white. i gave them to my friend who said he would try to smoke em. hope they turn out edible.
Re: Fun on the Samish
"hopefully they turn out edible",lol.Anyway, I`m done with the Samish for this year. Two trips out there without so much as a bobber down , not to mention the fact that they`re half dead.I can`t justify coming all the way from Snohomish for that.I`ll be turning my focus towards coho for the next couple of months.

Re: Fun on the Samish
yea the stupid keep your first 2 fish rule sucks late season because 9 out of 10 fish are dark and they wont allow you to catch and release to find chromers, you can always just release your 2 fish and stop fishing, your not required to bonk them as long as you stop after your 2nd legal fish, talked to warden the other day

Good Job man! Nice fish as always!
There are some achievements which are never done in the presence of those who hear of them. Catching salmon is one, and working all night is another.

Re: Fun on the Samish
We found some MONSTERS sitting aroundin the Samish today. We broke off to huge chrome fish, the first one we thought was a log at first until we started pulling on it and it exploded with a 3 foot silver flash. We did bring home a bunch of roe and got this 23 pund hen full of roe.
Re: Fun on the Samish
ran out of eggs so i went to the secret spot on the samish. there were literally over 100 fish holding in one hole. the females eggs right now make for super good coho bait
