Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
I need to hit the Nooch soon, We fished Tokul this morning and it was a bust, the green yesterday it was a bust. Not sure what's next on the list but at this point I have no expectations. Any luck on the Nooch or Satsop Brat Bonker?
Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
High water had me stuck at home with the boat in the garage today with cabin fever. Headed to Tokul, hooked some, landed two. Fish are out there, just have to get to them!
Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
They were out there for sure. I need to work on my Tokul technique.

No for me, haven't even touched a fish yet this year but i have been hearing some decent reports before it blew out this weekend on the Nooch, still early on the Satsop but the last rain may have brought some in but not sure, im stuck to weekends and that is the busiest days on the Nooch so I haven't been there since winter breakdadamunky wrote:I need to hit the Nooch soon, We fished Tokul this morning and it was a bust, the green yesterday it was a bust. dfesperate times call for desperate measures. Gotta leave the state to find good fishing. Same ole story.

Any word on the Sky?
Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
It's high. Reiter has fish, you're just fishing in the bushes at your feet. Fish eggs, you'll get one.

I don't know if it's true or not I was talking to a guy on the Sky said the Warden said they might close the river down in a week or two if the return doesn't get any better.
Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
It's going to close in two weeks anyway. It's the end of the line.

Definitely a lackluster steelhead season for the "S" River systems.

They won't. As long as tokul got their escapement (which they did) there is no reason to close it. Anything fish they get at this point are just excess.HOOKEDONFISHING wrote:I don't know if it's true or not I was talking to a guy on the Sky said the Warden said they might close the river down in a week or two if the return doesn't get any better.

I have had to work for them, but almost every trip out I've caught fish. The Snohomish has been the best by far, so I'm lucky that that's my home river. There has only been one day that was what I'd call a banner day, we caught five fish before 10 am, other than that, yea, it's been slow. It's time to fish the chehalis. I hope we get lots of blow outs to get those fish past the 5 day a week nets, but we will see much better fishing in the next few weeks down there. Starting next week, I'm going to be fishing the Wynoochee, the Skykomish is not worth it anymore.Cozmo4196 wrote:natetreat wrote:It's going to close in two weeks anyway. It's the end of the line.

Amen to that. Its been slow for us because we bought our drift boat mid way through the season, so the learning curve has worked against us putting fish in the box. It doesn't help that I'll be out of town this weekend and then the Sky(home river) closes at the end of January. We might just float the upper sections with a case of beer after it closes just to get some time on the sticks, but tackling one of the coastal rivers sure does sound enticing.

wynoochee with 50 other boats, weekdays might only have 20 but yeah there should be fish but there also should be fish everywhere right nownatetreat wrote: I have had to work for them, but almost every trip out I've caught fish. Re: Winter Steelhead 2013/2014
with the recent blow out I think the chehalis is going on 3 days of un nettable flows. We were there sunday checking it out. Entire maple trees floating down the river. One was even trailing nets! Hopefully these past 3 days will bring in a few more fish.
