Has anyone fished either the Walla Walla or Yakima rivers recently for catfish? I want to go down again soon. Last time was very good at mouth of Walla Walla. Any information on fishing, or on the river conditions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Catfish in Walla Walla or Yakima rivers
I can't believe more people in Washington don't fish for catfish. I came from Texas where catfish is king.
I got tired of waiting for someone to give me a report, so my friend and I went down to the mouth of the Walla Walla river. In 3 hours, we hooked into 6 catfish, and landed 4. All were 12 - 15 pounds. The other two were at least that big, as they broke our 10 pound test line. Lots of great fillets.

Catfish just dont seem to be something many Wa fishermen are interested in. When I was a kid we used to go night fishing for them quite often in the Calif delta all around Stockton, Antioch, Bethel Is. We loved fried catfish! I'll have to tell my brother you're catching them in the Walla Walla. Thats probably too much of a drive for him, but he keeps trying for them with little to no success in local lakes.

I lived in Modesto & worked in Stockton. My work transferred me up 3 years ago. Fantastic times along the delta. GREAT times out off Whiskey Slough. A little further south down 99 & you could find some real lunkers in the Merced river. I never managed to land him, but 10 years back, a cat took my dead bullfrog & snapped my 25lb test line like it was nothing. I saw the fin & then it took off. Next thing I knew, Snap. Yea.. I love catfishing..Larry3215 wrote:Catfish just dont seem to be something many Wa fishermen are interested in. Right behind casting a fly, catfishing is actually one of my greatest passions in life. The catfish are so prolific in the central valley, that they are just about in every single body of water. From lakes & ponds to streams & creeks to some people's back yard pools.
Nothing beats an all-nighter along some river, with a camp fire crackling, some grub roasting over the open flames, a cold drink or two & a couple of good buddies to swap lies with & laugh at when the "big one" gets away...
Wish I lived closer, as I'd join you in a heartbeat...
Wishing you VERY tight lines..
