Flounder, would you like the number to the pautzke guy that handles the pro staff? Pm me and I'll give it to you. Sometimes the straight dope from the horses mouth is the most compelling. I've actually spoken to those involved. I won't say a ton about it in a public forum. Try going to the Washington pros page on pautzke site. You won't find him there. The link you posted was cut and paste from another forum and was posted by a Swanny sympathizer. Also I'm not criticizing your need for verified info, you are discriminating in what you accept as fact. Nothing wrong with that, in fact if we were detectives I'd want you as a partner. Cabelas has also dropped him, along with st. Croix though they have not made a public statement yet. So try backing out to the Washington pro page on your own and you will see a list of guides with our hero missing. I don't have anything to gain here but seeing a known poacher get his due.

I know this might seem odd since I have posted some of the information but sending details that are already well in hand to the report poaching hotline or general email is not a good idea unless you have witnessed something on your own. Pulling information off the internet and sending it to them is not helpful at all and if anything causes that department to value correspondence less. I only say that because they have all the same information already and if you weren't there, I would think it would be annoying to keep getting emails about the same thing over and over. Now taking the time to contact the right person at WDFW with concerns about the matter is a different subject all together, or even just calling to request the information directly from them. Unfortunately it seems like everyone wants to complain without doing any leg work. Take the time to make a few calls, get informed and then voice your concerns in the proper channels. The purpose of the thread here was less about getting WDFW to act and more about getting other people here to become aware, informed and then willing to participate in voicing concerns properly.

Well in a related topic about poaching worth note, I bring an update. This is the story of young Colin and friend snagging their way around the Tahuya river. I am sure some of you are familiar and remember the story quire well. Here are the results of that bust. A little fine was paid and the state will not push any further. Now remember this was a case of poaching, game wasting (they were gutting fish for roe only), snagging, being over limit, and fishing closed waters. Congratulations Colin, looks like you will be back at it via foot or your little sled you run around in as soon as you pay your couple hundred dollar speeding ticket of a fine for being a complete tool. For those of you angered by the consent of the state to have the people's resource trod upon by jerks, let them know. I have a sneaking suspicion the swan man will get similar treatment. Wdfw doesn't care about enforcement. They don't care about you or the resource. Maybe once salmon and steelhead are extinct their management jobs will be easier and pay will go up for them with the surplus in budget. Let your wdfw office know how much you appreciate their lack of effort. That is all.

Obviously a couple domestic chickens are more vital than wild salmon and steelhead. Oh man and a pot pipe! String em up. Just some light duty poaching, awe just let it fly, no biggie. I mean wild steelhead populations in Washington are at four percent historical abundance, we can afford to lose a few to poaching. What the heck it Christmas. The lack of culpability is maddening.

Not sure what else a prosecutor can ask for, caught in the act with ample evidence documented by an officer. Guess the prosecutor had better things to do then seriously pursue this. What a joke if that's all the punishment they face for the intentional poaching and wasting of 20 wild salmon on closed water.

I don't believe this is true. I don't see an update on the WDFW Facebook page. I didnt hear a peep on the CB radio either.

I would say he does not owe you anything nor the world. He does owe the WDFW an explanation which I would expect he already had that discussion. If he wants to save his business he needs to play the what if game. Keep quiet and pray it goes away or keep bringing it up over and over again.

There have been many guides who have made huge mistakes and are still in business. I personally think he is doing the correct thing for his business. Keep quiet and wait for it to blow over. He will never get those sponsors back unless the general public comes back into Bill graces.

This is life... Everyone makes choices every day. Some good some bad!!! BUT each one has consequences again some good some bad. Bill is living through the bad choice and associated bad consequence.

Swanny made a series of bad choices. We all make bad choices from time to time. However as a society we have created laws to define how bad or damaging different actions are. Murder is a choice no? I would not compare what swanny did with murder but I also would not compare it with pissing in public which is enforced frequently. My point is that TheHunt you are totally wrong. Here penalties for crimes are assigned through the court to satisfy the need for a healthy society. Payment for crimes is made directly to society here and for the future recovery of the individual. What the punishment should be, not discussing that, nor is it our choice. Clearly you should not move to Oregon though because poaching is dealt with differently there and it would not seem to match well with your post or opinion.

The concern is that while you are clearly in the minority in terms of how poor his choice was, the enforcement arm of our state is not representing the people but rather a minority which for a reason I don't understand accept this behavior.

I think you are blowing smoke... Please post the sentence where I supported his decision to clip fins?

So you also believe that any of your bad decisions should result in a swift hammer. Correct? So you make a decision at work that did not work out you should be immediately fired. Correct? Or you beat your kid like Adrian Peterson for spilling his milk...

I guess you have your thoughts and beliefs. Good for you.
