Fly Fishing near Shoreline

Hey I'm new here.

I've been in North Seattle for about a year now and have been spending some time fishing Edmonds Pier, but with very little success (it's been a slow year I hear). I guess tossing a dart out just isn't my type of fishing.

I'm looking to get out and do some fly fishing - either in a river or off the shore at a lake, and would like to know of any suggested places to check out. I don't have my boat or float tube with me, so my options are kind of limited.

It seems really hard to find any sort of information on lakes or rivers near where I live that I should try.

If you guys have any suggestions (and hopefully driving directions) I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Welcome to the site Elisant!

I don't fly fish (yet), but if you have a salt license I see a lot of guys fly fishing at Carkeek park and I am guessing Richmond beach would be good too. Now that it is colder (less people), Ballinger has a little bank access and I have seen people fly fishing from the docks around Greenlake too.

Bitter lake on 130th N. Seattle has maybe the most shore access for your backcast that i can think of in N. Seattle, lots of rock bass (very small) and the trout are only hatchery fish, and won't be back until the spring stocking. Not much of a lake really unless you like the rock bass. Haller lake has not enough access to warrant from shore. Green lake is fine off some of the docks for backcasing, but from shore you would have to watch out for the jogger/walkers. Haller lake also is really poor fishing. Pass lake in Whid. Is. does not have much shore opp. that I remember but maybe somebody else goes up there.
Go to The Avid Angler in Lk. Forest park shopping center, ask for Britt. (girl) she is really good and nice, and she will hookyou up. but mostly it will be rivers and salt water beaches for cutthroat and silvers.

Yeah I have no objections to finding a nice river to toss my line out into.

Would actually prefer it on most days.

Thanks!
