fly fishing vacation

Post by deepbuzzer » Sun Mar 20, 2011 10:09 am

I usually take my vacation to go fishing stillwater for trout during the spring and the fall, but this year I have a vacation time towards the end of June and I am at a lost of where to pursue my favorite type of trout fishing.

I live in the Spokane area and would like to hear from everyone about some vacation destination areas that are no more then 400 miles away from Spokane since gas is so much this year.

I will also fly fish for warmwater species, if anyone knows of any great bass lakes to fish during this time of the year.

I fish out of a 14' aluminum boat so I need enough area to launch this size of boat.

Thank you everyone for you help.

Kevin

Kevin,
If I had the where with all, I'd go here. No bass to my knowledge, but great accommodations and peaceful surroundings. Looks like great fishing to boot.

What kind of acommodations are you needing? Are you looking for sort of a "Resort" i.e. a place that you can get a actual room/cabin, on site place to eat etc. Or do you want to camp, and just have a few quality lakes with driving distance of you base camp?

Quadfather,

Thank you for your response. Accommodations only come second, the quality of the fishing comes first, I will sleep in my truck and eat pickled herring if the fishing is exceptional.

If you have some ideas, I would really like to hear about them..

Thank you

Kevin..

Go to B.C. There are a number of great lakes in the Kamloops and Kootenay areas that fish really well at that time of year. If you want to spend the money to go to a private resort AND have great stillwater fishing, go to Douglas Lake Ranch, stay at Stoney Lake Lodge, and fish Minnie and Stoney Lakes. There are a number of other lakes here in Washington that fish well at that time of year as well.

Let us know where you ended up going on your vacation and how the fishing turned out.
Thanks!
