I looked and see no listing for a tourney that day on the Columbia. Do you have a link to the tourney? Tourney is based in Or. or Wa.?
What's wrong with your steering? What year of Ranger?

lol its a 360 series older boat but we've won tons of tournaments out of her. the cables are so stiff in it i finally got it free and bam something under the console broke so im out of luck useing it this weekend. thats why i've been looking for a partner to fish with. the hermiston bass club just started putting this smallie only open on to see what type of partisipation they could get and i guess its been getting bigger. our club here in pendleton use to hold the Boardman Open down there every spring and we started loosing boats because of the guys winning everything with largemouth out of patterson lots of guys didn't want to take the chance on loosing their lower units and our numbers in that tournament went down fast. a week ago my best five fish were just over 17lbs and i know for a fact those fish will be there on at hole and byting more now than they were a week ago, plus the weather will be perfect mid 70s and light wind. oh its gonna be held out of boardman oregon 5:15 is check in and drivers meeting at 5:30am lots of good fish will be caught. we had a 5lber and a friend thats not fishing had one just over 6lbs those are toad smallies. now you see why im trying my darndest to find a boater to fish this with me.

Sounds like the gears in the steering plate might have stripped or the shaft broke or some such thing. On my '88 Ranger I had 2 cables jam up a couple years apart, so I had hydrolic steering installed in '02 by Valley Marine when I had a new engine installed.
