Like I said in my previous posts I`m new to bass fishing and I want to know what type of knots you guys use when using spinners,crank,top water and so on. I use a rappala when using crank and top water and a trilene any other time. Just wondering if maybe thats why I haven`t been catching alot. Thanks guys:)

Clinch knot for most applications, Palomar knot for dropshot and some other presentations, and Rapala knot for most plugs and cranks.....and sometimes an eggloop knot for an odd application.

Clinch knot for everything. I'm a simple person.

The knots you are using are fine. I prefer to use the stronger "Uni" knot, with the tag end tighed up early to form a loop, instead of the Rapala knot, but that impacts strength, not fish appeal.

For the most part, a well tied knot, with a short tag, or no tag, is what I use. If you are not catching fish, it probably has more to do with location or method then with knots.

Football Heads : Jansik Knot

Topwater stickbait & Poppers : Rapala Loop Knot

Dropshot : Palamar Knot

Spinnerbait : clinch Knot

Joining lines : Uni ~ Uni knot / blood Knot / Slim beauty (Thanks Tag) ...

Flipping Jig : Jansik or San Diego Jam Knot (Thanks Tag) ....

Boots or Shoes : Bow knot

Thanks for the help guys. Anglinarcher I didn`t think it had anything to do with the knots but I`m the new guy remember:-$ At this point I`m willing to try anything and ask just about everything.

Seems like the pros use a palomar on just about everything, but i hate trying to thread a crankbait through the loop with cold hands, so i go clinch with cranks and spinnerbaits and palomar for everything else.

i think the palomar is essential when using soft plastics because the tag end comes out the top of the knot, so its much easier to hide a small tag end inside the nose of the bait because it's not sticking out of the knot sideways. just my 2 cents.

Double clinch on everything except drop shot and braided lines. For them I use the palamar

Clinch for me...on everything. I use a snap on jerkbaits, etc. I don't drop shot so no palomar...tho it's a good knot, imo

Improved clinch knot if I need it tied fast. Palomar knot for dropshot and flouro lines. Double Palomar for Braid. I also use the Rapala knot on occasion.
Many Many more knots out there, but thats all I use to date.

On "knot wars", pound pressure pull machine- Palomar proved to be stronger than Clinch, and also beat the Double Clinch.

No problem, ask away, just remember that a well tied knot saves fish, line, and lures ($$$$$$$$$).

As a couple of fishing shows they had the same machine for testing your "favorite" knot. I beat all of the standards, then the found out that I was actually using the standards. LOL

The key is to lubricate your knot and remember that any knot that uses two strands of line is stronger then one. That is why the Palomar is so good. Most of the better knots, if tied using a double strand, and lubricated, will be stronger then the line. IMHO

Improved Cinch, Palomar, and Albright for flouro to braid. Bloodknot for adding line to my spool
