Borderline Bassin Contenders will be hosting their annual Lake Whatcom Spring Open on Saturday, April 24th. Drivers meeting will be at 5:30 AM and launch will be at safe light. Come treat yourself to some of the best fishing for trophy smallmouth that Washington has to offer! Attached is the entry form along with the rules. I know that most of the 'hardcore' tourney anglers will be attending other events that weekend, that opens up a great opportunity for the rest of us.:-"

If you have any questions about this tournament not covered by the links below, you can send me a PM and I will find an answer.

I am looking for a boater who needs a partner for this event. Any takers?

I will admit that I do not have a lot of experience under my belt. But, I am a team player who fishes hard. I won't complain about the weather or tell you how to drive your boat. I have my own gear so I wont be asking to borrow yours. I am not a huge talker but can carry on a civil conversation.

Able to split tourney fees and fuel costs., and available to pre-fish up to 5 days before the event. Shoot me a PM if your interested or just want to find out more.

Sounds like the best tourny partner ever. If I had a newer motor I would consider fishing this tourny. Good luck.

Outboard motor limitations;

to me it is confusing when I read the 2 thru 5.

This is whatcom counties ord. on 2 stroke motors. E. The operation of all two-stroke engine-powered watercraft on Lake Whatcom is hereafter prohibited, effective January 1, 2009, except as follows:

1. Watercraft powered by a two-stroke-powered engine whose engine is certified and labeled as meeting the 2006 or later model year United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emissions standards, as specified in Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 91; or

2. Effective only until January 1, 2013, all carbureted two-stroke auxiliary sailboat engines; or

3. Effective only until January 1, 2013, all carbureted two-stroke engines of 10 horsepower or less; or

4. Effective only until January 1, 2013, all electronic fuel-injected (EFI) two-stroke engines originally purchased before August 2004; or

5. Effective only until January 1, 2013, watercraft powered by a two-stroke-powered engine whose engine is certified and labeled as meeting the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2001 emissions standards, including Rotax fuel-injected (RFI) two-stroke engines. (Ord. 2008-012 Exh. A; Ord. 2007-038 Exh. A; Ord. 2004-042; Ord. 90-83 (part)).

Correct me if i am wrong, but i believe it to mean...
Exception #1 will always be the exception. #2-#5 are only exceptions until Jan 1, 2013. After that point they are no longer valid exceptions to the rule.

Which to me means anything goes until Jan 1, 2013, as long as the engine is in a sailboat, or 10 hp and less. And the EFI engines were purchased before 2004, which mine is, it's a 2003. And then the 'meeting the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2001 emissions standards'. So I'm guessing after Jan. 1, 2013 only engines certified and labeled as meeting the 2006 or later will be allowed. So I guess my engine is ok until Jan. 1, 2013.
