Northwest Fishing Reports

I was just wondering if anyone was fishin' bass Smallies or Largies in Union/Portage Bay/Washington yet.... I'm thinking its still a little cold, but... how's anyone been doing?

You can fish Washington year round and catch them..gotta go deep though. Just ask Dez!

ya thats what I hear... I knew you could fish all year.. just didn't know how far down to go...

Go into the video section via "features" killer vid on winter smallmouth, they catch some big smallies and trout-[begining of feb]

i'm thinking about hitting sammamish with a buddy this weekend, but the temps have dropped again substantially this week and there could be some rain/wind with like 30f. What's doing? Anyone fish the bigger wawa or sammy lately with luck?

Dont worry about the temps Dustin ,

The bass have been chewing well all winter thus far !! Some of the best winter fishing i have experienced in three years !! GO GET'M !!!

Winter fishing can be hit or miss no matter what, but generally when you are targeting fish in the 40-50 foot range, massive cold fronts etc., aren't going to have the same impact that you will see on fish that are much shallower, like say the largemouth that might have started to move up.

heading to potholes this Saturday, first trip with My boat excited, weather should be good around Moses Lake.

awesome! Anxious to hear how the water temps are holding up over there! Good luck, you definitely have a great shot at sticking a PIG over there!

What is this "Bass" you folks speak of? I've been on the bass hunt for quite sometime this year
and have yet to see solid proof/evidence of their existance. The bass is similiar to sasquatch....a mythical creature.

I'll be back on the hunt soon to gather scientific data to support the eye witness claims.

All I have to say is this year March is the new April. I fished a tournament on Sammamish a few weeks ago and we had no problem catching big fish. I fished a lake in the middle part of the state last Friday and had the best day of my life. Forgive me for not naming the lake. We boated a bunch of big fish in a lot shallower water than I would have expected. It is time to go fishing.

On the East side you need to fish the same stuff you were fishing at the end of April last year.

Its all about calendar periods, and Desertcreek is right on the money! The stage of the lake is one month ahead of normal. Remember that bass pay no attention to mans clock or calendar, only to the "condition" or "stage" of the lake.

Years of fishing journals of my trips show a connection to fish movements and what particular plants and trees are in bloom [blossom]. Fishing the flats and shallower cover is where the largemouth are at, and biting. Even during these colder days.

Past years while fishing with snow on the bank during colder springs and still catching 5 plus pound Largemouth super shallow. One thing in common though- certain blooms have occured, [blossom]

Largemouth have been there for awhile now and I've been sight fishing even during these colder days. The lakes are in the mid to upper 40s and climbing, reaching low 50s on sunny days and 5 to 7 pounders have been moving shallow for sometime. One day on docks and cruising, then the next on the shallow flats and back.

I still haven't figured out why people still say its "winter", LOOK AROUND!!!!!!

I finally found proof that they do exist! This was weekend #5 trying to find evidence. :rambo: Keep searching for the truth KB.

i fished samammish this last saturday. temps were 44-45F and the only fish we marked were hanging around 35ft still. no bites. we did venture up shallow and work around the docks as well. spent a few hours working it. I need to get a camera for the boat I think (underwater).

Why would you want to take a picture of the underwater side of the boat?

OH! So you can see the FISH under the water. LOL

I've never even seen a fish on my camera. Maybe I should use it more often.

Had a fun day fishing on Potholes Saturday. was quite windy in the morning but calmed down and was very pleasant in the afternoon. water temps were at 42 most the day fished around islands and submerged rock piles. fished lynn cooley nothing biting. good weekend to shake off the rust and check out the new to me boat, she ran good. another 8 degrees water temp and the fishing should really take off.

Nice job,I'm hoping to fish a few lakes in your neck of the woods this year.

I heard the History Channel's "Monster Quest" is looking for bass too
