Suspended Bass

Last night I found fish suspended in roughly 20 feet of water on my fish finder. I suspect they where bass due to the fact they where "sitting" on a shelf. I jiged with a plastic worm and a regular old fashion nightcrawl with no luck. Would a drop shot be the best way to down to them?

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by suspended in 20 feet of water. How far off the bottom were they? Drop shot set up is really meant for working the bottom, so unless they are on the bottom, I don't think that would be your best bet. You could try to swim a jig or grub at the depth that they are suspended at - or try slow rolling a spinnerbait.

when ever i find those bass suspended i try three different baits and in this order ... I will throw a rattletrap (lipless crankbait) ...if no hits on 5 cast .. i then go to a spinner bait .. if no luck there .. i than throw a suspending jerk bait and work slow .. im positive that will get a hit on one these baits ... Good luck bud... BBD

I agree with BBD, although, I would also through in a deep diving crankbait with a wide wobble. Something like a Worden's Timber Tiger, as another bait to try.
